Spongebob the Musical

Apparently they made a musical based on the cancerous show spongebob? Everyone says it's surprisingly good, and the songs are written by some pretty great people. It just came out, but is there anyone who watched it? If so, is it worth it to take your kid out to see it?

Spongebob the Musical

It played in Chicago last summer.

If you do a search here, you'll likely find the old treats on it.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Spongebob the Musical

It was amazing. I loved every second of it.

#5

Spongebob the Musical

I LOVED it. Definitely weird and not for everyone, but personally I thought it was fun and a good a time.

Spongebob the Musical

Spongebob continues to wait for On Your Feet to leave the Marquis.

#7

Spongebob the Musical

Granted I think we're all waiting for On Your Feet to close. It's been on far too long.

Spongebob the Musical

I think they're waiting for Kinky Boots to bow out. If I remember correctly, Singin' in the rain was waiting for the marquis, plus the second time I saw spongebob in Chicago Jordan Roth was in my row. Of the Jujamcyn theatres I feel like the Al Hirschfeld would fit spongebob the best.

Spongebob will probably be in the Hirschfeld in November. Kinky Boots is a great show but its not getting the crowds it used to get.

Spongebob the Musical

Fascinating to realize that we're all menacingly breathing down the neck of On Your Feet until it closes.

And Mister Matt: I'm right there with you.

Spongebob the Musical

In fact, I wonder if its been expunged/ex-sponged.

Spongebob the Musical

its going into a JuJamcyn house in the fall

Spongebob the Musical

Well count me as someone who is not rooting for OYF to close, this is a fun show that does exactly what it sets out to do. The cast are great. Why would anyone root for it to fail?

Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

Spongebob the Musical

Helmed by the visionary Tina Landau and Chris Gattelli, all reports from Chicago were that it was wonderful.

Spongebob the Musical

Yes; its definitely going into a JuJamcyn house in the fall.

The JuJamcyn shed house, that is.

For what it's worth, I've always thought this show would work well at the Hirschfeld.

Spongebob the Musical

From what it sounds like in this interview with Emmy Raver Spongebob isn't moving along with its Broadway ambitions. Kind of sucks. I wasn't a big fan of the show, but it's certainly better than half the shows on Broadway right now. http://roryo.podbean.com/

"

That's not really what she says at all. There are no deffinate plans, but it's still floating around. All she says is that it didn't come straight to NYC like expected, and that it's still trying to come in at some point.
