Sunset Boulevard London Cast Recording

Sunset Boulevard London Cast Recording

Good morning Sunset Boulevard London Cast Recording

I'm looking to download (legally, duh) the London Cast recording of Sunset Boulevard with Patti LuPone, but I can't find it anywhere; not on iTunes, not on amazon.com....nowhere!

Does anyone know of any site online that'll allow me to download it? I'm really jonesin' this album, and I don't want to order it and wait for it to be mailed.

My last resort is going to Virgin Times Square later today on my break. HELP!

i love you all

Did you check cd baby (I don't actually know if they do) but sometimes they do have stuff itunes doesn't. I love Patti in this show....her voice is divine as always

A friend in London sent me a cd of Michael Ball and Petula doing the whole show - dialogue etc. and both are wonderful. Saw Clark in the US tour and she was the best I have seen.

The London cast is OK, but I think Lupone isn't that great.

I love LuPone's Norma.

I also love Buckley's, but I've only heard her performance thanks to the few tracks that she slapped onto the end of her out of print "Betty Buckley's Broadway" album.

The CD that the "Sunset" production released of Buckley singing several tracks is long out of print and essentially unobtainable, right?

They did the show in concert at the Opera House in Cork and the full performance was transmitted on BBC Radio in 2004. I'm not a fan of the show or Petula Clark in the role - she 'undersells' the diva numbers and her characterisation is . . . interesting. Having said that, according to wikipedia she has played the role more than any other actress, so what do I know? re: Sunset Boulevard London Cast Recording

Sadly, no one ever mentions Linda Balgord's Norma. Both Linda and LuPone are the only ones to ever sing Norma in the original key.

I love LuPone's version of "As If We Never Said Goodbye"! I listen to it on my MP3 all the time. I just ordered it from the library and burnt it.
You look absolutely terrific, honestly.

I prefer Glen Close's version.

I saw Balgord when the tour started in Denver. She was awful. Ms. Balgord may be a good performer otherwise, but I was so disappointed with her performance. And since the tour opened in Denver, I waited until later in the run to let the cast settle a bit. The show itself was very good. She was just awful. IMO

Betty was perfection as Norma. Too bad she only released a few songs from the show sold at the theatre and didn't get a full cast recording. But the London cast recording is my favorite recording of the show.

My preference is the Glenn Close recording, but for its completeness than for Close.

As for Balgord...while she definitely has her fans, I'm just not one of them. I have her Sunset single CD, saw her in Cats and The Pirate Queen, and in all cases she sounds like a shreaking cat -- but the cat is capable of producing more vowel sounds that just "AH" and "EEEEH."

From what little I've heard, my favorite Norma is Australia's Debbie Byrne. She has the pathos and vocal acting chops of Glenn Close, but is simply a better singer.

Debra was a train wreck!

Maria Mercedes who took over the role on the nights Debra refused to go on ( which was nearly every night ) was Brillant, acting wise flawless, sung the hell out of the score and was the perfect Norma. If the producers had cast Maria from the start the show would have run longer.

Let me say it it again Debra was Train Wreck
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Wow, Hughie looks so young! But the segment on "Gloria Swanson: Sunset Boulevard the musical" is a revelation. Miss Swanson can actually sing! And to think....I almost saw Gloria Swanson in person in 1983, when she was scheduled to make a presentation at the University of Texas at Austin (I was a student there.) But alas, she passed away before her scheduled show. from RC in Austin, Texas

I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

This is some of Miss LuPone's finest work. When she comes in on "The Lady's Paying," with "I'm sick to death of that same old filling station jacket..." I just go crazy. She is perfection.

Oddly both Patti and Linda's shows were retooled and the the stars replaced.. Patti replaced by Betty and Linda replaced by Petula.

No one has any love for Diahann Carroll? LOL!

I'm most partial to the Close version though. It's the one that I loved playing over and over again when I was in High School. Favorite musical at the time.
