is sutton still running the "for $100 i'll take you up to my dressing room and show you what a real 'roll in the hay' is like" special?

Personally I would never stop a performer before a show, and I'm kind of surprised some of them would actually acknowledge fans at that time. The few times I have seen performers that I recognized before a show I just gave a quick "hi..." and a wave. It dosen't even make sense since you don't have a Playbill to sign.
If you do get to meet Sutton after a show it's privlege (sp?). She is just as sweet as she is talented.
So is the general consensus that she does most of the time come out after the show?

She doesn't come out most of the time. She rarely comes out anymore, but she came out tonight, so I guess it just depends.
Okay, so I'm definitely going before the show like I usually do in her case.
She came out Sunday afternoon after the matinee in the pooring rain, signed posters and programs, and chatted. Lovely as can be.
I saw YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN this past Tuesday (December 1 and Sutton Foster came out. She was really sweet and friendly. That was even the night the cast was having their Christmas party. Roger and Megan didn't come out. Shuler come out too.
I don't know why that smiley face showed up. It was supposed to say 18th.
I went to a Wednesday matinee and stage doored after every performance from Wednesday afternoon to Friday night and never saw Sutton. The Friday that Megan came out (I was waiting for her all those times...maybe I'm crazy, but I don't care), Sutton and Roger both left a different way.
I was lucky enough to get to see Sutton in both Millie and Drowsy. I didn't get to stage door after Millie, so three years later when I saw her in Drowsy I made sure I got to meet her.
I went to Broadway in Bryant Park in 2006, hoping to see Sutton up close and meet her. She was the only cast member not there. But I asked a cast member if she was going to be in the show that night, because that was my biggest fear that I would miss her. She assured me that she was, she just had other engagments during the day, I was very happy.
She didn't come out of the stage door that night, though. I was almost in tears because I wanted to meet her so bad. But Sysco the stage manager was very kind and told me what time she arrives at the theatre so I could meet her the next day. He actully felt bad that I missed her, he was so nice. He made sure I met her the next day.
So the next day my parents and I arrived at the stage door around 6:30, Sysco remembered us and told us that she's not here yet, but any time. My mom noticed her first, she told me and I pretty much ran up to her. But she talked to me first, I had on my show off shirt and she commented on it. I told her that I really wanted to meet her after the show last night and she appolized for not coming out. She was so sweet. She stopped to talk to my parents and me for about five minutes or so. She posed for a picture and signed my Drowsy CD.
She does not mind meeting fans before the show. She is such a down to earth and humble person.

Sutton Foster doesn't stage door anymore...at least not on a regular basis. She hasn't come out for the last 5 performances...she and Joel Grey sneak out through another door.
It's very disappointing that she doesn't come out to sign autographs and to say hi to her fans. I guess since she's a big star now, she doesn't feel like she has to stage door anymore...how sad.

After the show, performers don't owe anything else to fans. Their job is to give a good performance. If they don't want to stage door, they don't have to.
People get way too crazy with the stage door thing. For some, it's way more important than the actual show. Truly sad.
I can't believe I'm about to defend Sutton Foster, but perhaps she's just exhausted? The role of Reno Sweeney isn't a cake walk.

Of course they don't owe us anything, but it wouldn't hurt if she could come out at least once a week....but she doesn't even do that. If Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, Tyne Daly, Brooke Shields, Chris Rock, Hugh Jackman, Catherine Zeta Jones and even her boyfriend Bobby Cannavale can come out and sign autographs and actually meet their fans, there's no reason why Sutton Foster can't.
Don't even get me started on this. Sutton Foster is being paid to play Reno Sweeney, not sign autographs. It really gets me when people think they are entitled to meet a performer after a show. And who cares what other actors do. For some reason Sutton Foster chooses not to stage door, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
I feel like this whole stage door craze has just gotten way out of hand.

First of all, Lansbury almost never stage doored when she was in Night Music.
Second...do you work? How would you feel if, every day at 5:00, after you've just worked hard for 8 hours and want to go home, there was a barricade line full of people, wanting to chit chat, take photos, and pretend to be your friend? Would you enjoy coming out the "office stage door" every evening to that? Or would you seek out another way to leave?

First of all, Angela Lansbury almost always came out and signed autographs when she was in Deuce and Blithe Spirit. The reason she didn't come out as much while in A little Night Music was because of the Mob scene for Catherine Zeta Jones.
Second of all, I'm not a Broadway star, so it matters not what happens after I come home. Signing autographs for fans comes with the territory of being any type of performer...whether they are a baseball player, an actor, or a singer.
Finally, performers like her, need to realize that you don't want to alienate your fans...it's 'bad juju'.
"Comes with the territory?" I beg to differ. Nothing "comes with the territory" unless it is stipulated in the contract. I guarantee you there is not a stage dooring section in any performer's contract because it is not what they are paid to do. If fans are going to be dumb enough to let their opinion of her be damaged by not getting a stupid autograph, then that's just ridiculous and that's their own damn fault.
The fact that some fans think performers owe them an autograph makes me sick. They don't owe their fans anything besides the performance they are paid to give eight times a week. For whatever reason, Sutton Foster chooses not to stage door. That reason is her business, and no one elses.
Sorry, she owes her fans nothing but to show up and perform the role she is being paid for. A performer has to keep in top shape to deliver the goods on stage. Those who stage door are being gracious.
Any fan who would stop being a fan because they didn't get an autograph or photo isn't a true theatre fan. I'll tell you what is "bad juju"-being a snarky, entitled brat who thinks performers were put on this earth to sign their memorabilia.
And if you want to be honest, Sutton has paid her dues. She doesn't have to stage door anymore. She's busted her ass, won two Tonys and works her ass off 8 times a week in a grueling show. Plus, her back has been bugging her. She doesn't need to sign a damn thing. Ever. Again.
You are not entitled to meet her. She did her job and wants to come home. If she chose to come out once a week only, what would happen then? People from all the other nights would whine. Or worse, like you, they would stalk the stage door every night to meet her. (You must be stalking to know that it's been 5 days in a row.)
She did just get back from vacation -- maybe she's exhausted. Maybe she's sick. MAYBE she has company. Maybe there's a million things keeping her from it.
But even if she just doesn't WANT TO -- that's her business. I'm not even a fan of Sutton's and I will defend her on this point with my last dying breath.
Do you have the right to be disappointed? Yes, but really, that's all you get.

Well, I'm hear to tell you guys that staying in touch with your fans is a part of showbiz. So if she opts to keep herself in a cocoon, she's going to find herself with less and less fans....trust me, the word gets out real quick on those who feel they are too good to meet their fans and sign autographs.
Word gets out to who? The teens?
Do you really think Sutton, the producers, or any Broadway star for that matter, cares what they think? Do you really think a producer is going to say, "Well, Sutton, we were going to cast you, but since you don't stage door, we're giving the role to someone else."?
I'm sorry to sound rude, but you're coming across in this thread as either entitled or delusional.

Come on, even Hugh Jackman signs autographs for his fans. I mean, it's not like she's the President of the United States...lol. It wouldn't hurt her to come out and sign some playbills...her head is just getting way too BIG!!!
