I am suprised it recouped at all, let alone how fast it did for an off-broadway musical.
Congrats to all involved!!

Had to add another "e" :)
So glad it recouped! I was getting worried it would not after the British cast left back in April.
I could see this becoming a Long-running off-Broadway production.
This is actually really important for the continued life of commercial off-Broadway theatre.
I hope carolee is seeing a good chunk of that change!
A financially successful run of an Off-Broadway show. Bravo!!
Doesn't surprise me at all - it's a very big hit, and a great show! Great news!
This makes it one of the few Sondheim productions to actually recoup. The Doyle SWEENEY (barely) recouped in 2006, but in terms of investment vs. profit, I suspect this will in the long run be a bigger relative hit. Coupled with the news that the Jake Gyllenhaal SUNDAY recouped, this is a good year for Steve.
I highly enjoyed Hugh Panaro, Carmello and the rest of the phenomenal cast this past Saturday matinee. As a big fan of the Doyle Sweeney several years ago - this production certainly did not disappoint. I wasn't completely 100% convinced Hugh, as Sweeney- is a twisted man inside, he just looks so nice and sophisticated - not really 'rough' around the edges - but his voice in this production, without a microphone - is a force to behold, esp if he's standing on the table you're sitting at. Loved it - I sat at a twisting seat B9...not a problem at all. So glad it was able to recoup...
Great news. I hope it runs for years and years.

When he's kneeling in front of you, his face 12 inches from yours holding a straight razor to your throat, trust me, he looks plenty twisted. LOL.

:) :) :) Congratulations to the Off broadway cast of Sweeney Todd :) :) :)
I drink to that (and one for Sondheim! Yay!!)
Im hoping for a cast recording at some point (praying and fingers crossed)
Brilliant! I saw Norm Lewis and Carolee Carmello over the summer and absolutely loved it. It was so wonderful to hear all those beautiful voices unamplified and see the show happen so close.

I had great time when I saw back in June. Lucky to meet Norme Lewis, Carolee Carmello and Matt Doyal. Everybody was so friendly and nice. I got to pictures with many of them and Lewis joked around the ingredients in the meat pie I ate that night were samples from audience the night before ![]()

They were nice because you didn't spell their names in front of them ![]()

Lol, I tend to type fast my bad. I'll be more careful
Apologies to Norm Lewis, Carolee Carmello and Matt Doyle
They were a wonderful group of people to talk to. In fact when I said hello to Matt he smiled then reminded me that I told him when he sat next to me in the table just before the show began that the original cast recording helped me through highschool, lol.
I wonder how much word of mouth on Carolee’s performance is helping ticket sales. She is giving perhaps the dirk It I’ve performance of Mrs Lovett. I hope she’s getting paid more than off-Broadway scale for this. She deserves it.
I don't believe Carolee Carmello's name sells many tickets. I think its this show - in this concept that is the draw.

So incredibly happy about this! It's a brilliant production of an amazing show. I've seen it twice, once with Norm Lewis (without Carolee) and once with Carolee Carmello (without Norm). Those 2 gave perhaps the best performances anyone has ever given of Sweeney and Lovett.
