The other thread on this vanished because the person who started that one didn't have a source, either.

I was glad that we had a chance to see THE COLOR PURPLE with Fantasia... so sad though

It's funny... I was talking to the House Manager of Alliance Theater in Atlanta last weekend and we talked about TCP... I asked her if the Alliance staging was exactly as the one on Broadway Theater (bec. she seen it too) and she told me ..it was a liitle different and they have different cast that did not ALL go to Broadway neither..

During our conversation-I told her..that I think (though not 100% sure) that there was a rumor that it may close bec. Shrek might move there....I guess sooner than I expected... Edit : I hope I did not jinx it by saying that!

I wanted to see Chaka in the show. I guess advanced ticket sales aren't good?

Oprah said it made Broadway history. Did I miss something?

jaystarr, yes (but only at evening performances).
Oprah said it made Broadway history. Did I miss something?

It was the first show she produced. So that makes it historical.

I guess this is the motivation I needed to go see it.
Oh I guess it does make it historical if SHE was a producer! And it was HER show as I have heard her say on a few occasions. Guess the mighty Oprah's name didn't have that much of an effect. I really don't think people went to see it because her name was attached to it. I could be wrong, but I know I didn't see it because of her. I saw it because it was "The Color Purple". Wish it could stay around longer but it did well and recouped. Hoefully the tour will swing through Denver.
Wickedboy...do you mean one thread NOT 50?
Not surprised to hear this especially since their numbers were low pre Fantasia joining the cast.
lol yea!
