I was just looking at the album and it seems they also added “If Only” from the musical.
Only Latifah and Stamos so far have “acted” the songs and as such their performances were a joy.

Are they making If Only a duet?
Anyone notice the butterfly that wacked her in the face during “Kiss the Girl?” Found that pretty amusing haha

Yes

Oh good, looks like they kept the first part of "If Only," one of the two new songs I like from the Broadway version. Also, you can tell Graham Phillips is the only lead up there with actual Broadway experience
Poor Prince Eric. He looked so uncomfortable rowing that canoe. Like he was figuring out how to ditch Ariel as she awkwardly stroking her hair. They both had zero chemistry. He looked trapped. Ouch!

I was thinking the same thing. He looks and sounds the most professional.
Ariel isn’t supposed to have a voice right now?? But she’s singing?

i had to look him up because I thought I wasn’t familiar with him, but he was the son on The Good Wife. I loved that show and he was good in it.

I "know" him from 13 the musical. Man, he's really grown up!
Damn, ABC! You’re wasting no time!
“If Only” was was beautiful.

Wish they'd kept Eric's line "maybe I'll find that voice, but I'll lose her." I felt like it added some depth to their romance.

It’s supposed to be in her head.

Because all songs in a musical are absolutely actually sung in-world and everyone actually learned a song in 5 seconds and a whole choreohraphy instantly.
For those saying Latifah was great, I don’t get it. I feel the song was completely rushed, her diction was quiet and jumbled at times. She needed to slow down and take a few beats here and there. Camp it up and vamp it up a bit. I was disappointed. She also doesn’t really have the money notes of that song.

Overall: a disappointment. I really hated the movie parts. Just do the full thing live! The cast was great. And I fell in love with the costumes.

I’d say the live portions: 7.5/10. Overall, 4/10
How did they not do the last scene live - ?! Even Disneyworld uses the most prehistoric special effects at "Voyage of the little Mermaid" at Hollywood Studios with some degree of success

Overall wish they had gone for more sincere performances and less flashy design (this is coming from a set designer) but overall thought the performers were good. Thought it was silly not to have the finale Part of Your World be live. Would have been curious what it would be if they’d done the whole thing live.

A fun little twist to the original movie that remains available to be seen for all eternity just as it was released.
You'd think they would care a bit more for the audio in a musical (I don't know if it was my end, but it sounded wrong at almost all times. You could barely hear the soundtrack of the movie!).
Some of the cuts done to the movie also annoyed me, and oh, american TV and its commercials.
As I was watching, I couldn’t help but wonder how amazing this film would’ve been if they had 3D type animation back in the day.

Agreed. It was cute but nowhere near as good as Pat Carroll was in the original. The last notes were particularly underwhelming. She's not really much of a Belter when she sings live. I felt that the tempo seemed rushed and she wasn't given enough time to really have fun with the song
