Stephanie is still so wonderful. I cannot wait to hear her "Feeling We Once Had".

She seemed kinda nervous since she was singing in front of stephanie. She needs to live in the moment and relax a little bit. When december 3 hits, millions of people are watching her. She says that she is not nervous but i feel like deep down inside, she feels that there is going to be a lot of pressure since this is live and it is opening and closing in one night. She sounds amazing she just needs to let her vocals flow a little bit more and it would sound less breathy. I have so much faith in shanice. She is extremely talented and she is such a beautiful girl inside and out. She is the sweetest person. I am 100% positive she will do a fantastic job.

I think Shanice sounded great, but I agree re: her emoting every lyric.

 

teddy, it's obvious to everyone on the board that you are involved with the Wiz Live, why bother denying it? It's not like anyone's mad at you about it.

I just realized if they're rehearsing this, did they add Aunt Em into the end of the song, making "Home" a duet?

 

I'm so glad to hear Stephanie Mills sing part of it, just not sure how I feel about taking the focus off of Dorothy's final moment to have her aunt out-sing her.

 

EDIT: By the way, when Stephanie sings "A world full of love ..." near the end, I totally tear up. That huge voice is just brilliant.

I really enjoyed Shanice a lot...yes, in certain parts, maybe she should pull back just a little bit, but I couldn't really nitpick it because she was that good in my opinion!

And what can I say about Stephanie Mills that hasn't been said?

I think this is still a solo for Dorothy, because in the interview below, Shanice talked about how she got advice from Stephanie Mills and she implied it was still a solo.

I don't think Teddy is involved in The Wiz. I can't imagine any professional in the Wiz going to THIS LEVEL of desperation like Teddy is doing.  Some fans just get uber obsessed and  crazy with productions and feel the need to defend every little criticism as if they actually thought they mattered. I've seen it happen all the time. People were like this during the Les Mis film, The Into The Woods film, Hamilton and countless other projects.

You're reading too much into it. This Home duet was obviously just a fan pandering publicity stunt. Home would never be a duet.

This is not a duet. This is still a solo. In the interview i read on entertainment weekly. Shanice said that stephanie told her that she will be the only one on that stage when she sings this. She also told her to live in the moment and don't hold back

Why would anyone think this would be a duet? It's just a promotional video for the show, featuring Shaniece and Stephanie singing Dorothy's big song.

Stephanie still has can sang. I'm on the fence about Shaniece though. It may have been just nerves.

What are you talking about? Shanice was singing the exact words from the song.

She replaced very few words, but the changed words don't take away the meaning of the song.

Shanice is fantastic, but needs some work. She is very breathy, and adding words like "They"/"The" before every lyric gets annoying

To me, i feel that shanice is adding those words because she is very into the song. There is 3 weeks left to rehearse and she has enough to practice this more. It is probably just nerves that is making her sound breathy.
