The whole cast and crew shot a new commercial for this yesterday. In this promo, we get to see all of the costumes and sets. We could possibly see it either tonight or tomorrow.

As much as I enjoyed Peter Pan, they should have gone for something with a different plot, than something similar to Pan. Like The Wiz, Peter Pan is about a child going to a fantasy land. Viewers do not come cheap and they cant expect 18 million people to log on December 3rd. This year I am going to take a break from NBC Live broadcast since nothing about the Wiz appeals to me.

Damn! They're not wasting any time are they!?!?!
I prefer the original slip cover, minus Queen Latifah...

That was the same for the lady two NBC musicals. The DVDs came out the following Tuesday.

Have they announced when the cast album will be released? I can't remember if the former ones were released before or after the live airing...

The recording for Sound of Music was released a week or two prior to the broadcast; they were studio recordings of the musical numbers and the album was released by Masterworks Broadway.
Peter Pan had their recording released by Broadway Records a week or two after the broadcast and was released the same day as the DVD in a DVD+CD gift set. This album - at least from what it sounded like to me - was with the orchestra recorded in the studio using the actual audio track from the broadcast, thus a "live" recording of Peter Pan.
No word yet regarding The Wiz, but Craig and Neil expressed interest in releasing an album like the other two. I'm sure with musicians like Ne-Yo, Queen Latifah, Amber Riley, etc. attached - and based on photos from social media - the potential album will consist of studio recordings. If not, that's fine, too.
Wondering if the same may or may not be done by Fox for Grease.

What record label(s) do the various actors belong to? If they belong to competing labels we may not get a cast recording at all. This is why we never got a cast recording or soundtrack for Cinderella in 1997. Brandy and Whitney Houston had contracts with competing labels and would not allow them to record an album together, especially not even as guest artists on Disney's label.

Why do their faces on that DVD cover look so demented?

Stephanie sounds exactly the same. She has one of the most amazing voices i have ever heard in my life. Shanice has an amazing voice as well. She sounds great. She is a perfect choice for dorothy. She really embodies the role. She should add a little bit more soul to her voice when she sings the songs.
Hmm to be honest, I thought Shanice would sound better. Stephanie blew it out of the water though.

Shanice has an amazing voice. It is very broadway sounding but it is amazing. She is probably holding back on her voice so she can blow us all away when december 3 hits.
Okay, Teddy. My apologies to your Queen.

I wish it would be released on blu ray
It has to be better than the last two live shows.
Thank goodness Lester Holt does not have an actress daughter.
It was nice to hear Stephanie sing that song again. Yup she still has it cause she never lost it! I seem to remember that for a while back in the 80's and maybe 90's she stopped singing HOME live for a while.
I saw the original stage production on Broadway 3 times. The last time I saw it was near the end of her time in the show and by that time she had taken this song to a place that had people screaming in the theater In the middle of the song. I still have goosebumps! It was obvious by then that she would go on as a recording artist. I own most of her stuff.

Stephanie's voice is so huge. That's how you filled a theatre in 1975. With today's mics and technology, I guess it doesn't matter anymore, but damn that's an incredible voice.
Shanice sounds good, but her acting needs work. She's indicating every single emotion, word by word, in the song.
Still, this was a thrill to watch. I'm hoping that even with a design concept that is either sanitized or lacking unity, I will enjoy the broadcast for the performances.
And why isn't Stephanie Mills back on Broadway?? I know she became a successful recording artist, but she needs to come "home" to the theatre again.

Yeah she was overracting to the extreme. Was sort of hard to watch. Hopefully the director pulls it in.
