For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Hun, the Broadway part is kind of redundant. re: TONY NOMINATIONS - One Week Away: Final Predictions

Nice compilation though, thanks for the effort. re: TONY NOMINATIONS - One Week Away: Final Predictions

Souvenir and Latinologues have no chance at a best play nomination...

I can tell you haven't seen anything yet.

ODD COUPLE has no shot at anything but a very slight chance at a nod for Nathan, but that's doubtful.

I hope THE WEDDING SINGER is not nominated
but the category is just pitiful this year.
I really only liked THE DROWSY CHAPERONE.

I hope The Wedding Singer isn't nominated either.

The four nominations should be:

The Color Purple
Jersey Boys
Drowsy Chaperone
Tarzan (or The Woman in White)

We'll know more after Tarzan's reviews come out Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Is the replacement award going to be announced at the same time as the nominations?

Since I only think this was invented to boost the egos of hollywood actors when they take a role, I cant imagine who will take it this year...

I think Fierstein has a good chance, however.

Is Harvey eligible? Do they go by date the actor joined the show? Regardless Rosie is a contender...but will she get it?

Is this "best reinterpretation" or "best stunt casting" or "best replacement doing everything the original actor did"?

We all know how horrible In My Life was, but does anyone think any acting noms might be a possibility? How about technical awards? Set?

Rosie is not a contender for the Recreation of a Role Award because she was not contracted for 6 months.

I think it's "Best shot in the Arm Tony win for a currently running show."
My money's on Pryce. His reviews were stellar and I'm sure his producers are pushing it.
Plus, isn't this award decided solely by the Tony nom committee?

The question that is on my mind right now is which show will get the most nominations? I have a feeling Drowsy will get the most nominations followed by Jersey Boys.

CurtainPullDowner, I understand how you see WEDDING SINGER as a competitor to your show, but STOP BASHING IT ALREADY OK? If you look at all of your posts, there isn't one that doesnt say something bad about it.

I think David Turner is the only possibility from In My Life, but it was so long ago.

Even tho the DD put her in the lead category, I think that the tony nom committee will consider her supporting.

I would assume Harvey Fierstein is eligible for the Best Recreation Tony as he performed for 6+ months in Fiddler during the 2005-6 season, right?

Eileen Atkins should win the Tony. Not only is she brilliant, but DOUBT's numbers aren't good. The award would atleast give them a small, temporary boost at the box office.
