Damn it. I had tickets for late January and was wishing this show could tough it out. Such a shame.

It's a shame but I have no idea why they thought it was going to sell again so soon after the off Broadway version was never sold out less than a year ago.
Really sad that this one hasn't been able to make it through its scheduled run. It's a fantastic, fantastic production.
Sad to hear as I probably won't get the chance to see it on Broadway, but happy to hear about the tour!!

That is true, but it was announced with Urie himself in LA. I feel announcing it with him helps the chances of it but you are right. If I get the chance when I'm in the city I'll be trying to see it!

Have to see this once again before it closes!

I'm not surprised its closing, but it sold quite well off-Broadway and extended twice. Probably gave them false confidence that there was more of a demand then there was.

Also, per you: "Oklahoma is going into the Circle in the Square... you'll see tomorrow. Or call Eva Price tonight."
Perfect for Girl from the North Country
I hope the Torch Song tour stops in Chicago. I've never seen this play.

It's barely making it halfway through a 4 month limited run on Broadway and hasn't cracked 45% in gross potential once. No one who books touring shows is going to believe that this couldn't draw flies in New York but it will be huge in Oklahoma City or St. Paul. Harvey himself could have announced it by having "We will tour" tattooed across his forehead and there is still zero chance of it happening. If you want to see it, see it in NY before it closes.
this is not going to play Oklahoma City or St Paul. It will do ok on the type of tour it will do.
And the type of tour it will do will hopefully include us in Chicago.
It’s a great production but it was not even full on opening night. It was on TKTS.

I'm going to grab a little shut eye Hogan. Please wake me up when they formally announce it.
I had tickets for three days after this. DAMNIT.
Wow, such a shame! I really enjoyed this production. I wonder why it didn't attract a larger audience. Michael Urie is well known, and so is Mercedes Ruehl.
It is a shame, but I'm glad it had a few months on Broadway, so at the very least it'll be remembered come Tony nominations time. This thing was never going to be a hit on Broadway, it was a labor of love, and I for one was thrilled I got to see it, having missed the off-Broadway production.
Who know if it will really tour, but Center Theatre Group has already announced it for the Ahmanson Theatre as part of its 2019-2020 season, so at least it'll have an LA run.

The issue with either Oklahoma or North Country going in the Hayes is that Second Stage said the theater would only feature American plays. I personally think that's too limiting (and both musicals do have roots in Americana) but it depends on how stubborn the board is.

I know who Michael is from Ugly Betty and all his theatre work, but I wouldn’t say he’s well known. He has 50 k Instagram followers. Most Broadway stars have more followers than that, without a successful tv show credit. I have no idea who Mercedes is, and I keep very up to date with pop culture.
