I never saw this coming either. I mean, the grosses weren't abysmal or anything...fairly average. I just wish Beauty wasn't closing now.
wait, does this mean Jenn is going to miss the closing performance? that would be kinda sad.
Why would she be missing the closing performance?
It's about time! I hated this show & was shocked it lasted this long. And I love Josh Strickland (pictured with Phil Collins) but even he couldn't keep this travesty afloat. Now he can finally do something else more worthy of his talent - yay

have to say im suprised it has done this long...
It was a good musical but never really hit off - Tarzan, imo, just isn't a classic like the others Disney have done/doing.
Glad it's going - I mean really by the end of the year we will have Little Mermaid and Mary P and Lion King won't be going anywhere for a while! Three is enough...they were never going to have five play at the same time!
Next in at The Richard Rodgers??
Jenn is schuduled to be out A LOT according to Niki Scalera website (she's a Jane understudy)
The date's that Niki is shuduled to go on go to NikiScalera.com
(includes July 8th, 1 and 6:30) Since it's closing Jenn will most likely change her absences and be there for closing.
Who knows if Jenn is going to be out anymore because no dates of absence are noted on her site!
BEST OF LUCK TO THE CAST OF TARZAN! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!
maybe now Chester can be in Shrek!

I think any of the following situations are possible:
Beauty will move into the richard Rogers theatre with a much simpler but effective set.
Grease will load it's small set design into the richard roger's theatre as beauty moves down broadway to the Brooks Atkinson theatre.
i do have a feeling though that tarzan and beauty's closing are in a large plan which should get not only disney more money from both shows, but transfer beauty into a smaller theatre and open mermaid in the lunt.
Thousands of tickets to GREASE have been sold already, assigning seats to ticket buyers in the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The box office has been open a week now. People already have their tickets that say The Brooks Atkinson Theatre with seats that they selected in that house. GREASE isn't going anywhere.
And Beauty is closing July 29, as scheduled and NOT moving anywhere else.
HALLELUJAH!!! THERE IS A GOD!!! I am sure Munk is as thrilled about this one as I am.

There is a theatre God! This should have closed on Page 10. I wish the very talented cast all the best though. They really made the most out of it.
I missed the rest of the thread last night.

Ooh, I'm sad. Not because I loved Tarzan all that much but because it's turned into my son's favorite show. He's turning 5 in July and I wanted to take him back to see it again. Now I'm not sure if that's possible. He's so cute. He knows every song in the show and sings them all the time. He's also seen MP and Lion King but seems to have really taken to Tarzan.

Well, I'm seeing the matinee on the 7th, talk about just in time, too. Well at least I know Jenn's going to be on
Monday: Disney will announce plans for Hercules the musical. Just kidding but i still think that would've worked much better on stage then tarzan
wow!..this show was actually good..it seems that everyone on here is so obsessed with the shows they like and have no respect for the shows other people like
"wow!..this show was actually good"
HAHAHA, that was a good joke steven22...wait...what?...it wasn't a joke? Oh my god. You thought this show was good? OY.
Well im not sad at all that the show is closing , im shocked it lasted this long.
Im glad disney have closed it though instead of keeping it running to save face.
Good luck to all the cast and crew for their future projects
I'm sad that it's closing. I was hoping to see it again, so maybe I'll head up for the last performance.
The show, though it was not the most brilliantly written of shows, was an enjoyable night at the theatre for me. It was more of a spectacle than anything else, but the incorporation of the flying in that way was new and innovative. Sitting as close as I did, it really made me feel like I was part of what I was witnessing happen onstage.
I wish the best to the cast; the performances were uniformly better than the show's material. I hope they all find work soon.
Would it ever occur to you, jerseygurl, that producers of shows like to make their own announcements to the press and not have the self-entitled do it for them?

It's like a miracle.
Ok, now let's move Beauty into the Richard Rodgers!
There is a difference. Producers nowadays know that the internet reaction can't be avoided from the time that you play your first public performance, whether it is out of town, or in NYC. A paying audience member has the right to say whatever they want. A composer who is concerned about work being judged prematurely would be cautious and protective about demo materials being released or heard at all. If an actor talks publicly about their next job, well, surely they know to expect people to talk and report about it.
But feeling like you can announce a closing of a show before the production makes it official should not be in the hands of the general public. BroadwayWorld had every right to delete your thread.
Holy Cow! Maybe there is a chance to surprise everyone will taking BATB to the Richard Rodgers isnt it right across the road? Oh if there is a God!!
