Ok, now let's move Beauty into the Richard Rodgers!
There is a difference. Producers nowadays know that the internet reaction can't be avoided from the time that you play your first public performance, whether it is out of town, or in NYC. A paying audience member has the right to say whatever they want. A composer who is concerned about work being judged prematurely would be cautious and protective about demo materials being released or heard at all. If an actor talks publicly about their next job, well, surely they know to expect people to talk and report about it.
But feeling like you can announce a closing of a show before the production makes it official should not be in the hands of the general public. BroadwayWorld had every right to delete your thread.
Holy Cow! Maybe there is a chance to surprise everyone will taking BATB to the Richard Rodgers isnt it right across the road? Oh if there is a God!!
*head, meet desk*
Jenn is schuduled to be out A LOT according to Niki Scalera website (she's a Jane understudy)
The date's that Niki is shuduled to go on go to NikiScalera.com
(includes July 8th, 1 and 6:30) Since it's closing Jenn will most likely change her absences and be there for closing.
Who knows if Jenn is going to be out anymore because no dates of absence are noted on her site!
Yes this because its Jenn's vacation for her wedding/honeymoon. I wonder how this is going to work out, whether she will come back or not. Good Luck to the cast and crew!
I'm sad to see it go, but it had a year run, which is still good. The show may not have been the best, but it was a good time... mainly the first 10 minutes, which is still one of the top Broadway scenes for me. I wish all the best for the cast, mainly Josh, Jenn, and Merle. Hopefully we'll see them (and the rest of the cast) go onto more projects!

What I can't figure out is why Disney announced Beauty's closing six months in advance and gave Tarzan only two weeks' notice.
Even back in January, Tarzan was their weakest show. So if they needed a theater for Mermaid, why didn't they plan to move Beauty and close Tarzan this summer?
It's not like they never move shows. Last June they moved Lion King, and years ago they moved Beauty to make room for Aida.
I can't imagine why it wouldn't remain open during the summer, through Labor Day, with all the tourists visiting then.
When I saw Beauty and the Beast this past March, it just felt like it was ready to close. The cast didn't seem all that excited anymore and were just going through the steps. It felt boring. I saw the tour about 8 years ago and I loved it... it felt more fresh then.
Just an FYI, guys:
A lot of times companies release news on an embargoed basis. In other words, they'll send out press releases so writers can get their stories together with the understanding that it won't be published before a certain date and time. Defying an embargo, in most cases, is a serious violation of ethics.
I'm no insider here, and I didn't even see any of this last night, but I imagine that is why early threads -- along with a lot of other threads in the past trying to announce news that hasn't yet been officially announced -- were deleted.
I love people who keep saying "Move BEAUTY to the Richard Rodgers."
They think any Broadway show can fit in any Broadway theatre.
The Rodgers is FAR too small which is part of the reason for TARZAN's demise. Not the whole reason, mind you. But part of it.
Remember the Adam/Anthony RENT situation. Adam posted in his blog, and BWW issued a release and threads were started. Everything soon got deleted (BWW release, Adam's blog, etc.) because the theater itself didn't release the info. An hour or so later, the official press release came out, and everything returned to normal.
It happens kids, no need to go psycho about it.

My immediate thought while seeing the thread title was "YES!!!"
I'm glad they came to their senses.

Does anyone else think its odd that Playbill.com hasn't reported this yet?

thanks! That was posted after I made that comment though, because I seriously refreshed the page before sending that in because sh*t happens to me like that. Maybe the playbill.com is a broadwayworld user
Well I guess they don't need the new Young Tarzan anymore. His first week was supose to be the first week of July. Dylan is also scheduled for a vacation that week as well but I'm told he's rearranging his schedule to be there. As for Jenn....I don't know whether or not she would completely cancel her honeymoon or not. But I would think she would at least try and make it back for the final performance. I can't imagine the stress of a wedding and then learning that you show will be closing while you're off celebrating.
Best wishes and luck to the entire cast and crew. I know a lot of people didn't like they show but it does have a group of dedicated fans, myself included. Yes it may not be the greatest show to ever hit Broadway but I always left with a smile on my face.

Woah, I just realized that the guy who played Professor Porter played Parchester in the broadway production of ME AND MY GIRL.
It's funny because that was the role I played in our highschool production.

I know they've announced that Mary Poppins is supposed to tour but did they ever make an official statement about Tarzan touring?
I can understand holding off on letting us post closing notices. The box office told us Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was closing, and when I tried to post they kept getting deleted. I realized later it was because the cast hadn't been told yet. I actually found out about this closing last week accidentally, but I didn't know it would be this soon.
As for Tarzan, it had a lot of potential, and a great cast. It just had some issues - mentioned on BWW in great detail over the past year - that it just couldn't get over. Plus, people just didn't care as much about this show even going in to begin with. I'll probably be at the last show, though.
Poor Jenn and Josh.
This is dreadful.
I loved this show.
I have to go back atleast once more!
The best part of this thread is that only the few of us who were on last night will get the "rehearsal" thing. hahah.
