The BWW Tech Support Thread

Looks like a new "Alerts" feature has been added. I noticed it a short while ago when I got an alert that someone up voted my post.

It is a nice feature but I noticed I got an alert that someone I have blocked commented on a thread I posted a comment in. Also, it seems that there is a "Keep watching this thread" option below the quick reply. I am assuming that you can control which threads you want to get alerts from by checking the box. That's nice but it looks like the box is already checked on all threads and you have to uncheck it if you don't want alerts. I guess either way you have to go to the box, but, just me, I would rather have the boxes unchecked and check them myself. I can see myself posting a comment without remembering to go to the box and unchecking it if I don't want alerts from it. JMO

Just noticed that even if I uncheck a "Keep watching this thread" box, it just stays checked when I exit the thread and a red dot appears next to the thread name on the message board.

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Thanks for the feedback and both of those have been addressed. We're adding a few new often asked for features to test including today - quick replies, watchlist/alerts and improvements to the latest news and profile pages. We'll hopefully have some more shortly as well!

Now, if we could just get rid of one user who continues to create new accounts -- after getting banned -- things would be great!

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Initially when I clicked on an alert, it took me directly to the thread and comment. Now it just takes me to the first page of the thread and I have to go find the comment.

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Over the past few days, various board pages have only partially loaded their content. This has been happening on multiple devices. The page ends up with some of the side links, ads, and so forth loaded, and a lot of white space without the specific content of that page displaying. It then then ceases to load anything further, even if I wait.

I've also found for a long time that logging out of the site, only inconsistently works. Often I can see that I'm still logged in after logging out, or the next time I visit the site after previously having logged out. It's odd.

I have this issue, too. Besides happening on multiple devices, it also happens with multiple browsers (Chrome, Safari, and Firefox).

When the side links and ads load, they overlay the page I've navigated to, and obscure the content on that page. E.g., when I navigate to a Chat page, I can see about a ¼" strip of the chat page behind the left side of the overlayed ads and side links. When I scroll down, I can see about ¼" of a red button in the background. If I click on that visible portion of the button, it opens page 2 of the thread - and that page looks/functions normally.

If I refresh the page, the error seems to worsen from the initial "overlay" situation, to what's described above: "a lot of white space without the specific content of that page displaying. It then then ceases to load anything further".

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

There seems to be an issue with time stamps on posts. Some seem to be attributed to later times or different time zones, keeping older posts at the top of the board.

After I posted this, two older posts remain at the top despite my post here being the most recent.

Edit: this seems to be fixed, thanks!

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Thanks for all the feedback which should now be fixed for the layout/timestamp/loading/logout bugs... If you're still getting any weird issues or overlaps, please shoot a link + screenshot over to us at contact@broadwayworld.com and we'll figure out why.

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Alerts now, again, take me directly to the comment. I have had 4 alerts in the same thread. It looks like you actually have to go back and forth from the thread to the "alerts" and click on them individually to reduce the alert numbers. Is there any way for all of the alerts in one thread to go away after you have clicked on one of maybe 2 or three in the same thread?

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Who wants these alerts? Anyone? It serves no purpose and I don't need an alert if someone liked my post. If you're trying to replicate FB, you're like 20 years too late. It's just too busy and cramped. The quick reply is nice tho, thank you!

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

I personally like the alerts. There are times I may post a comment in a number of threads and forget which ones I commented in. I also find that there can be 2 or more threads on the same subject with similar titles and end up checking them until I find the one I commented in to see later comments. It would be nice if you could click on one alert and the rest of the alerts for that thread went away. Once in the thread, you will see all of the other comments in the alert.

I am also finding that alerts for the off-topic board take you to the Main Board when you click on them. There is a thread I commented in, unchecked the "following" box at the bottom but I am still getting alerts for comments in that thread.

This is all happening on my both Chromebook and Pixel phone.

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Unfortunately, the layout issue with the outsize amount of white space taking over pages, is still occurring.

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

I am unable to read the site on my laptop or my phone. I have to use my iPad. The typeface is microscopic. Very unhappy with the change.
What I want to know is, who is TweetyPie1?

Wanting alerts is very egotistical. Oh look, I have 8 alerts, somebody likes me!! Unnecessary.

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Having major problems with the chat boards over the last couple of days. If I go to chat main page with all the threads, it seems to be fine. But if I click the last commenter or change pages, the boards disappear and it's a mass of ads with content (not the boards but the TV/headlines/most popular wedged in-between them. Happens on multiple browsers.

Me, too.

The Chat Boards are inaccessible (formatting issue) from a desktop computer. The "workaround" is to use my phone.

Also, site traffic seems to make a difference. The more traffic, the less accessible. I.e., I'm using my desktop right now, but it's 6 AM where I am. The Chat boards will probably go back to being inaccessible in another hour or two.

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Thanks to all reporting this bug, which I think we've now squashed. It appears as if our cloud-based caching was picking up the mobile version in some cases and serving it broken to desktop users that were then caching the 'bad' css locally. We're pushing out a fix now. If you hit it again, please shoot the link on over to us at contact@ - thanks and happy Saturday!

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

I’ve been having an issue in which clicking the “Back to Message Board” button at the bottom of a thread page takes me to a view of the board that only includes other related threads and not the general view (ie- if I hit the button on the “Oh Mary reviews” thread, it will only show me a view of the board only with other threads pertaining to Oh Mary).

Thank you for phrasing this much better than my 50 paragraphs about it would have.

And... it looks like we now have separate buttons to guide us back to the main board and the show board.

Thanks!!

Re: The BWW Tech Support Thread

Why do I immediately get a thread listed as "watched" after replying to one when I don't click on it. I now have to go back to those threads and remove the "watched" tag. I don't need alerts for any threads. It's annoying and unnecessary.

I have the "keep watching" box unchecked also but keep getting alerts when there is a post. I think it may be because I have commented in the threads. It is happening with every thread I have commented in.

perfect example of it happening with this thread. Just make this stupid addition go away.

I would really like it if it worked correctly.
