Shesamarshmallow, sorry to hear you missed Michael, hope he's alright. Are you going to try to catch the show again while you in SF?

I might go to the Sunday matinee. Is Michael sick? Or in Chicago again?

I don't think anyone knows why he was out yesterday. We're just hoping it's not because of something medical. By the way how was Mike Erickson in the Gyp track? Updated On: 8/4/07 at 02:34 PM

He was good, but I thought he looked far too young. My friends enjoyed him immensely, though, and his accent/voice was perfect.

If anyone goes today, ask about Michael's status!

From what your saying it sounds like they have him play Gyp as a young mob boss, like a young Tony Soprano or Al Pacino in Godfather 1 & 2. They didn't try to age him and if they did, it must not have worked well.

I'm sure it works, but that line about his granddaughter might be confusing. Gyps

Who played Billy Dixon while Ericson was Gyp?

This post says that Jake was covering Mike's track. Atleast on that particular night. But it's possible that they're rotating the swing in that track.

Yep, Jake Speck was on last night.
Ingersoll was in today, btw. Just my luck to catch the day he was off!

Blog update with alot of info. Here's the summary (but you should read it b/c there's non-show related info) of things regarding the show.
*The Sherry cast just had show 250 (when is show 100 for the SF/Chicago cast).
*The Sherry cast gets a new set (this 3rd one is the touring set), and it's going to be different from what we've been seeing. They'll be rehersing new staging that will be used for the rest of the tour. (Anyone seeing the show in Sac report any changes, I don't think I'll be able to get up there to see the Sherry cast in action.) It's the main reason Eric is complaining about Sac because they'll have to tech it and the producers are having them do as many shows as possible during the run.
*They're getting a new PSM.
*They have Doug's replacement, but Eric forgot his name.
*Eric still wants fan picutres for his new site so send them in.
End of the summary.

So I'm guessing the LA set will be going to Chicago and the SF set will be going to Vegas. It makes sense because from what shesamarshmallow heard, the Vegas cast may be coming to SF in November.

Brandon as Frankie? I would love to see that.

Brandon doubling as Frankie means that he sings behind the curtain, offstage, along with whomever is playing Frankie onstage.

Brandon also doubles for the girls in My Boyfriend's Back!

I think the I read in an interview that the girls also double Frankie when he's in falsetto, not sure though.

Shesamarshmallow, were you able to catch the show today?

Edit to add: Shesamarshmallow's post below reminded me of the benefit tonight. If anyone is going please post a recap of the event, and not just of the JB cast because I want to hear about Raul Esparza's performance also.

I was indeed. Great, as always. Though Act 2 had some flubbed/forgotten lines and sound issues. :)

Is anyone going to the benefit tonight?

There were a lot of weird, really minor mistakes, but it was still a great show. My friend who went for the first time (and loved it) had no idea anything had gone wrong, so that says a lot. :)

And I met shesamarshmallow. More from Eric Gutman

I had a feeling since she was saying hi to you and Shawk. It's always interesting when you meet someone from the boards in real life. The ones I've met have been great.

I need to get my JB fix. I think I'm going to go this coming weekend to check out the new Gyp.

are there any updates on what happened to eddie driscoll? it was all so sudden - hope he's doing ok.

an update on LA: the rush line wraps around two corners of the building, but word is that the matinee today was great. :) It also seems like not a lot of people do the stage door in LA - is this an LA thing??

I don't know why that is. There's always a large crowd stage-dooring WICKED. The lotteries lately have gone up to over 200 people, so the stage door line wraps around the building. For JB, the rush and stage door crowds are so disproportionate.

I remember in June I got there five minutes before the box office opened and was maybe fifth in line? There were two people at stage door when I went. Then last month, I went an hour early, and there were already thirty people waiting. Still only two people at stage door that night.

I'm not complaining! Though it's hard not to feel like a stalker sometimes. More from Eric Gutman

There was hardly ever anyone at the stage door at La Bohème, either, but that was also the case in San Francisco. Ahmanson stage door
