I have to say my intuition was right when I was quite disappointed to miss this last year at the Armory, as it is truly a masterpiece work of theatre.
You can feel the effortlessness in both the direction and the acting, as this is the 4th leg of the production (2 London, 2 NYC), and the cast did not skip a single beat.
The direction tells the story in such a unique and fascinating way. Mendes provides as much clarity as he possibly can, putting a lot of the weight on the 3 actors. As seen with 1917, The Ferryman, Cabaret, etc., Mendes is a master at blending technical elements with incredible acting work.
Miles, Beale, and Godley are all shoo-in's for Tony nominations, as well as Mendes, the play itself, and it's scenic design. Not sure if any of the actors could win though, as none of the three were the clear highlight, for me at least. They are all sublime though, playing dozens of characters each over the 3 acts. They're giving the kinds of performances that you can't believe get rehashed every evening. Truly brilliant work.
The play ran about 3 hours and 20 minutes with TWO intermissions. Mendes and Scott Rudin were in attendance, both seeming pretty happy about how the show went. I am avoiding things like the stage door at all costs at the moment, so no update on that, but I am sure that they did not tonight.
I rushed and got a ticket at 6:45 PM, 40$ Far left orchestra Row G, Marked Partial View but I saw 95% of all the action on stage, and 100% of the exposition."
"40$ far left"
This is not meant to be a criticism, but is it now acceptable to place the $ sign AFTER the number? When I was in school (shortly after the walls of Jericho fell) it was $ sign first and then the number. Ex; a $100 coat.
For those who have seen it, would rear mezzanine be a poor choice of seat given the rotating glass box? Sight lines from the rear mezz at the Nederlander are very good because of the steep rake but I'm concerned all I'll see is the roof of the box.

While the overall view would be good, there is an effect in Act 3 that is one of the highlights of the show that I think would be lost from that far back.

Overall I think you’ll be fine but if you can find one of those $50 seats in front mezz or orchestra starting tomorrow I think that would be a better option.
yes show is 3 hours 20 mins including 2 intermissions. Note there is no late seating so try not to be late!
Back in business: The Lehman Trilogy resumes Broadway previews tomorrow night at the Nederlander Theatre, after shutting down just five days after beginning their preview period. Opening night will be on October 14. The three-man show stars Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and new cast member Adrian Lester. The Lehman Trilogy is written by Stefano Massini and directed by Sam Mendes. This production will be a limited engagement, currently set to end its run on January 2.
“The story of a family and a company that changed the world, The Lehman Trilogy unfolds in three parts over a single evening. Academy Award and Tony Award winner Sam Mendes directs Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Adrian Lester as the Lehman brothers, their sons, and grandsons. On a cold September morning in 1844, a young man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside dreaming of a new life in the new world. He is joined by his two brothers, and an American epic begins. 163 years later, the firm they establish – Lehman Brothers – spectacularly collapses into bankruptcy, triggering the largest financial crisis in history.”
I am seeing it October 2- next Saturday- matinee- got third row center seats- for $179 on Telecharge- a very fair price. Hoping the very high stage is not an issue from the third row orchestra- I hear it may be. Very much looking forward to it, Loved Ferryman- and hope Sam Mendes stays on a winning streak- which seems to be the case from all reviews I have read. Can't wait.
Does anyone know of discounts? So want to see this but am very hard of hearing and the Devices don’t make much difference. I like to sit close so I can read lips.

Actually, 179 for an orchestra seat in the third row center is about the best you can get for Lehman Trilogy. If you are really into close seats- that might be the best you can do.

That's a great seat B'wayBaby2. Dead center & not too close. Will be there too on that day.
Lehman's first show back. Sam Mendes gave a comical opening and thanked everyone for coming. Show incredible. Fast paced, moving cube was great scenic design, and cast beyond superb. Adam Godley amazing, especially the twist dancing scene.
Crashed thru the book and audible. The production did get the essence of the good chapters and loved Adam and Simon playing the female roles.
This one is worth seeing again. Mendes and company does it again.

I’m so jealous that you now have this show in NYC. A truly incredible production. I’d fully expect it to dominate the play categories next year at the Tonys
Grab a plane and get a tkt, Dolly80. It certainly deserves to take the Tony's.
I loved Ferryman. Figured I love another work involving Sam Mendes. First time I've seen these actors who were great. Loved Adam's interpretation of the multiple bride candidates and the way Simon and Adrian presented the female and child roles. Hysterical.
The orch is small so N is okay. Only 570 seats in orc with approximately 1100 in entirety.
I had row G on aisle right orch. It felt like the equivalent of row D in a larger theater that is set further back from stage. There's no big lobby. One small bar at back of left orch. It's a nice, compact theater. It won't disappoint.

Ahh thank you so much JayElle! I had wanted a more personal experience/response with the Nederlander as I was worried about my seating location. And Seatplan.com and AViewFromMySeat aren't as detailed.
I don't think they're awful. If anything, you'll have easy access to the aisle/stairs for the restroom during intermission.
Most of the time the 3 actors are center so you'll see them. I did notice though that rear mezz is now $59/$49 and if you don't want an obstructed view those seats may be a good option.

I think Row N is fine. I've sat in Row Q (last row in orchestra) and thought the view was great. Yes there is the mezz overhang but during the entire performance I was able to see all 3 actors.
