The tour of Disney's The Lion King is pulling into Philadelphia next Month (August). I'm seeking opinions on the current tour?. Is it worth seeing on this tour?
If you haven't seen the show before, I suppose it's worth it. If you've seen it before (on Broadway, tour, or anywhere else), I'd skip it. The tour has been "watered down" over the years in many ways. Corner cuts here there over the many years of touring have really added up and cheapened the show a bit.

Thank you for your response. I will probably just head to NYC in the fall and see it there.

I’m seeing it in Philly next month with family. I’m looking forward to it! I saw The Lion King in NYC about 10 years ago so the tour do. I will say tour prices are just as bad as Broadway’s and at least for my show, only seats left are nearly $200 or partial view. I’m not going to say see tour or Broadway (I’ll report back after my show), but you might get a better seat in NYC than what’s in Philly.

If you can invest some more cash and see it on Broadway, don´t go see the tour. Not only are so many elements scaled down, but the orchestra is less than half the size (with KeyComp filling the missing players) and, believe it or not, it so makes a difference with a score this good. That being said, the tour is still a very enjoyable show. You can never go wrong with The Lion King.
I caught the tour in Detroit last year. I haven’t seen the show on Broadway, but I will say I was underwhelmed by some of the scenic elements, specifically pride rock, which looked about 7 feet tall. Also both Nala and Sarabi sounded like Minnie Mouse when they sang, which really makes some of the songs lose impact.
Philly prices are insane. The last time I saw the show was in Philly - I think 2008ish - got a second level non limited view ticket for under $30 like 20mins before the show at a Sunday matinee.

I bought a partial view seat and I’m 99% positive I’m behind a column. I wasn’t paying almost $200 for a show when I could spend that money for Broadway.

Mind me asking where you’re seat is?
there are some “good” column seats.
if it’s not sold out and your seat sucks just move.

Parquet Circle V2 in the orch . There’s a few open seats in the orch so if they’re still available closer to show date, I’ll call to see if I can exchange. Or like you said move if not sold out. Or even purchase last minute on StubHub.

I got it with my subscription. The printed price on the ticket is $110. Not bad for pretty good seats. I wouldn’t pay $200 when I can see it in NYC.
you’ll be fine. I’ve sat in the circle years ago for “big river”
upstairs Column seats suck. Being sold a seat behind a column without being told beforehand awful

Hasn't the Broadway and touring productions of Lion King been cut up and reduced over the years? No more aerial ballet dancers, no Morning Report, etc?

That is correct.
