I know there are, but I am just wondering. How long did it take for them to decide Shoshana was going to relpace Idina before Idina left?

I'm glad Shoshana is leaving because I do NOT like her in the role.

odds are it will be either Steph. J., Eden, or someone TOTALLY new. But NO ONE KNOWS fir sure. It's all the way in January... The auditions in Boston are coming up/have happened/are happening so they'll find someone there I'm sure, if they don't pick someone allready in one of the casts.
Shoshana was only named as the new Elphaba about a month before Idina left...
^^Ana is amazing in the role, but I think she'll stay in Chicago for a while... Steph has been on tour longer, so I think she has more of a shot...

Stephanie is coming back to the tour next month, she only took this month / stop off. I would love to see her at the Gershwin.

Like I stated before,
Shoshana Leaves, Anas contract is up at the end of January in Chicago so shes not going to go to Broadway untill Febuary, Idina Menzel is going to repise Elphaba untill than.

Some unknown who will be completely hailed as the next coming on the board for simply getting cast.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

I think they should get someone completely new to Wicked altogether, like they did when they replaced Kristin Chenoweth with Jennifer Laura Thompson.

But weren't they going to replace Kristin with Laura Bell Bundy?

OMG, the world's going to cease to exist as we know it, if they don't announce a new Elphaba like real soon.

Hahaha mef!
But in all seriousness, the new Elphie will most likely be Ana or Eden. Probably Ana.

Does anyone else not see the connection? Fiddler on the Roof closes January 8th. Shoshana Bean's contract is up in January. Who is the next Elphaba?

Say it with me: Tours are NOT training grounds for Broadway. If the actor is not capable of given a Broadway-caliber performance (as judged by the director, that is) that person will not be cast. The fact that one has been around longer means nothing. Both Ana and Stephanie could have been easily cast in the Broadway production, but they were auditioning (or offered, if you will) for specific companies. But I digress. I don't think Gasteyer has plans to continue playing Elphaba after her run in Chicago. She has implied as much.

No, no, no, Rosie O'Donnell!
^ and also... I know all that... but seeing as how Stephanie has been in the tour longer, and that Ana's contract isn't up until February... I think Steph will go to Broadway.. just my theory....

Stephanie's going to be on tour until March because all the principals in the tour I beleieve were contracted for a year (it started last March). Plus, she's confirmed this in various emails to people.
