I finally saw a picture of Rauls wife, Michele. She's not what I expected (my twisted imagination invisioned a tall, leggy blonde - don't ask me why! : ). She's very cute and the weird thing is we sort of look alike! Its nice to know that I am his type, physically. :)

Anyway, thank you for reading my post. I totally appreciate anyone who sits through reading that entire thing. When I saw the play I wasn't sitting *that* close, but I flinched too! The only word I can use to describe it is intense...

Oh, and just a small, friendly warning. You've got some competition in the marriage department. Wicked_Elphie and I already have claims on Raul, as I'm sure lots of people do... he just doesn't know it yet.

Oh my... did I mention that I love him? I just listened to "Petrified." Tears my heart out every time. His voice is quiet possibly one of the sexiest things I've ever heard.... and I'll shut up now.

lol, we didn't think anyone would actually know - much less share - that. It just happened to come up in one of our oh-so-intelligent phone conversations that went something like:
"Hey, what's up?"
"Not much. So Raul... did I mention today that I love him?"
"Yeah, me too. I listened to 'Petrified' eight times today. I need to get out of my house or something..."

Okay - I found that article but his middle name wasn't in there but the story about his grandmother was. Here is it (FYI-I'd get tissues before reading this!) . . .

While he was playing Riff Raff in RHS, his parents brought his maternal grandmother to see her grandson perform on Broadway. It was her 93rd birthday, Dec. 22, 2000. A few days later, the family gathered in Wilmington, Rauls birthplace, to celebrate Christmas.

"I fell asleep in her lap, as she was stroking my head", says Esparza. "When I woke up, she said 'you haven't done that since you were a child. I could die tomorrow and be a happy woman."

The next day, she had a stroke. She passed away Jan. 18, but Esparza spent many of those last days by her side, leaning in close to her ear, softly singing her favorite Cuban songs. And now everytime he steps onstage, a part of her is with him.

"After my grandfather died, she would put drops of his Guerlain cologne on a handkerchief and carry it with her", Esparza says. "Now I wear it onstage in CABARET".
