1. So Friday night at Heights I was having a conversation with someone about the u/s I want to see, and Janet!Nina was pretty much the top slot on my wish list. In fact, I think the sentence "I would pay full price orch to see that" may have been said. (I can count on one hand the number of full price orch tix I have bought over the past three years, this is a Very Big Deal.) Fast forward to Saturday afternoon, when I get an email, and then a text, (not sure about the email, but I know the text was because of itwontbelongnowx's post, so thanks for that!) telling me that Janet had gone on as Nina for the matinee...fast forward to even later when I get a text saying that she's still on the u/s board for the evening show.
And, well...
She was so incredibly good I don't have words!! Seriously, I loved her singing, she has great acting choices, and I LOVE how freaking *expressive* her face is, random as that comment may be- I got teary eyed during "Breathe," and she *owned* me for the rest of the show. Janet!Nina should be at the top of all of your u/s wish lists too. :)
Second story: So I remembered, during intermission, to ask the merch guy about May 20th. And the merch guy (whose name I didn't get, but who apparently reads these boards- so, um, hi merch guy! :)) had no info as to if May 20 is the shipping date or the receiving date for those who pre-ordered, because he didn't know where the May 20 date came from- he said he learned that date from reading the boards? lol.
Also tonight they were short a female ensemble member- swing Stephanie Klemons was on, but Krysta was Carla, and Afra Hines was out, and it's great to watch them work around that, with as much choreography as is happening on that stage- ie during "Carnaval" where it's usually the four girls sitting on the arms of the circle made by four guys, instead they were three/three tonight, etc.
oh, btw steven22- Krysta!Vanessa is great, she had good chemistry with Lin, but what I really enjoyed the time I saw her go on was that she and Mandy had total BFFers chemistry between them.

but yeah- it was awesome. thanks for all the info everyone :]

I am jealous of that hair, and I am a guy !!!!
Ana.. thanks for the great review !!! Regarding the May 20th date, I had posted that date, after hearing at the theatre that they would have it the week of May 20th (not including May 19th, cause its a Monday)
I then heard someone ask for a specific date (I think they had preordered) and they said most likely on Tues, which would be the 20th- (unless they meant the 27th)

...and I might *still* be gushing over Janet's Nina. :)

Oh, and also, for anyone interested, Lin-Manuel is going to participate in a panel discussion on June 9 as part of TeatroStageFest.
I LOVE that festival, but I'll have to miss it this year, as I won't be in NYC those dates. I especially wanted to see "Borinquen Lives in El Barrio", which starts the day *after* I leave. Oh well
But I highly encourage everyone to check it out, and support Latinos in the arts :)

I sent my best friend the link to the new songs and she just sent me a txt saying "OMG When are we seeing this?!"
Haha looks like another one of my friends converted into ITH addict

Joshua Henry was on for Benny.
Rogelio was on for Josh's track.
Stephanie was on for Afra's track.
Josh needs to seriously go on more often... he's such an incredible performer. His voice is gorgeous, his acting is perfect, and he really LOOKS the part. Chris has light skin, which could confuse people; he looks like he could be Italian or even Spanish. Josh is darker and you can tell that he is not Spanish. And Josh's voice and acting truly make Benny perfect. Seriously, if you ever get the opportunity to see Josh, RUN don't walk to the theater and get a ticket.

And also, that ridiculous Advocate review I mentioned awhile back calls Chris Jackson "a sexy slice of Latin cheesecake". Which made me laugh out loud, cause...dude.

EDIT: And when I first saw Chris J. I thought he was latino because he looks a ton like my friend Sebby who is Chilian... so I can see why people might be a bit confused.
