I don't hate, but I don't love the opening so far. Too slow, in my opinion.
Sean Hayes showing off his piano skills over to Jerry Lee and Million Dollar Quartet with Chad Kimball DJ'ing Memphis.
Fela brings this thing to a screeching hault.

What the hell was up with Felas performance, did anyone experience the out of sync of her voice?

Worst lip-syncing ever. You'd think Broadway performers would perform live. Sheesh.
what was the screech?
Way to fire last years sound people.
It sounded like a dying cat.

I really don't like this opening, its kind of slow Marianne said.
i am tempted to turn over my love of musicals card.
What is with the total Nazi banners?
Wow.. that "Fela" performance is really going to make people rush to the box office.... OY

I think all the dogs and cats in the tri-state radius went hiding under beds when that Fela chick did that freaking screech.
Yeah Nazi spiders are really similar to bleeding heart shaped grenade in fist.
I'm not interested in American Idiot at all, but I have to say Green Day made this better. I love Holiday though, so I might just be biased to the song.
Same for me, Marianne and I just thought the show was meh.
"MY HEROESSSS GREENDAY". urhhh don't wet yourself.
Yeah, those are certainly Nazi-esque.
Way to be out of sync Fela. Oh, and why does Green Day get a prime spot in the opening?
Having Green Day perform disgusts me. Let the cast have more stage time. It may be there music, but that doesn't mean they should perform it. This has turned into Green Day Live from NYC.
You guys can bitch all you want, but this may very well get the best ratings of any first-half-hour of a Tony Awards show ever.
Thank you green day
Get the connection Strummer?
Why are they still playing?
Was that Betty White I saw clapping to "Know Your Enemy"?
Oh christ, the clapping is getting out of synch more than the Fela! performance.

Wow Fela! I didn't hate the show when I saw it but that performance was something else. Also I get they're using Green Day to drag in viewers but two songs?
This opening was way too slow.
doesn't the audience look so into it during Green Day Live At Radio City? Nathan Lane looked like he was loving it. Idina at the end of was priceless.
