FANTASTIC for the Tony Voters giving attention and credit to an original all-American musical without the weight of jukebox or movie-stars. WAY TO GO (so far) MEMPHIS!

I was thinking the music choices were strange also. They should have gotten the pianist from the Drama Desk Awards.

Re: the music, I think they just have some sort of generic "Broadway medley" and they're just playing random show tunes as each winner walks up. They just did "If Ever I Would Leave You"--bizarre!
Obviously they are running short on time--oy. Karen & Greg are having to really speed things up.

I am SO happy for Christine Jones. She has had a design on Broadway almost every year for the past seasons; In the Heights, Avenue Q, Spring Awakening and American Idiot! I am so glad her design talents were finally recognized!

With Best Book and Best Score, it looks like MEMPHIS is going for Best Musical!
