What is a "jaundice (or 'jaundiced') fundamentalist perspective" anyway?
and this show should (finally) be put to bed by the end of summer.
Maybe you should check the grosses. The show is gong no where. It is performing extremely well its age.
Ugh she is an utter disaster on that stage. What a shame. I'm glad Merman and Martin aren't around to see things like this. Come on. That ain't Broadway.

LMFAO!!!! K!
Jeune Lune shuttered in 2008... so... back to two.
And what does jaundiced fundamentalism, whatever the hell it is, have to do with Chicago, the fire, the theater town OR all of its Tonys? Sheesh.
And no, don't try to explain it to me. I'll help you out by saying that then the point will have been (once again) thoroughly missed.
Sorry, Musicals, I totally got the allusion BEFORE I opened the thread.
Are you truly suggesting that someone might accidently stumble across this thread, and think: Yes! I must go set the city of Chicago on fire again? Really.
You are making a mountain out of a molehill.
Miss Wendy on the Broadway is bringing out the crazy all over up in here. Opinions - glorious opinions!
For me, it's the mark of a free country...

Many Chicago voters for JFK in 1960 showed more life than Wendy Williams in this video.
That was more fun than watching her. But I will give her (and them) credit for this: as a talentless novice stepping into a prominent Broadway show, she at least fits the archetype of her character more than Christie Brinkley did (and far more than Billy Ray Cyrus.) I'm not saying she's great, good, or even adequate, but they've done worse.
Holy. SH*T. lovebwy, how many freaking times are you going to say "this ain't Broadway."
I literally copy and pasted like 15 different times that you said it in the other thread. We get it. Jesus...

I just want to add this. I am personally a fan of Wendy Williams. And I don't blame her for her poor vocal ability and poor stage presence.
What I want to know is where do we draw the f_ _king line on celebrities who can even begin to be as good as a chorus person? Where do draw the line?
SHAME ON THE WEISSLERS for allowing this work to suffer. SHAME on Duncan And Benton for calling themselves "CASTING DIRECTORS".

I mean, she's terrible. She's awful. But she will be a draw for many who would normally not buy tickets. So you can shame the casting directors and Producers all you want - they're definitely laughing all the way to the bank.
There is no line drawn when it comes to celebrities. For Christ's sake, they wrote two musicals for Lauren Bacall, who can neither sing nor dance. (And I for one loved APPLAUSE, but the appeal was pure star wattage, not musical skills.)
Made Hasselhoff look like Hugh jackman
At least Betty Bacall had what we call stage presence and star quality, baby. I see none of that here.
As George Takei would say: "oh myyyyyyy!." Her performance is ....words escape me. It looks stupid to insert her slogan during the the song. She can do it at the beginning, when Mama is introduced. I was lucky to have seen Miss Pedi as Mama. She knocked it out of the ballpark! My heart goes out to the cast members who have to make the best of a bad situation, with non-singers in a Broadway musical. from a "Chicago" fan, Roman

Chicago can be considered one of the best theater cities in the country?

Chicago is the best cities for a lot of things. I love the cities of Chicago. All of them.
I guess some people really take the Sox/Cubs thing a lot more seriously than I assumed...
