I know she writes, and I use that term lightly, for the same paper as Riedel, but why do they give that miserable, wretched "critic" Elisabeth Vincentelli a platform? OK, I probably answered my own question there. I always looked forward to their Tony Awards specials because of the three panelists. Adding a fourth, and such a miserable toad, ruined it for me this year.
I'm surprised that most of them went for Ruthie Ann Miles, too, but I think Susan's right. Judy Kuhn will win. Riedel was disrespectful, condescending, and sneering when Tesori, Kron and Bechdel made an appearance on Theater Talk last week, so it's not a surprise that he's in the AMERICAN IN PARIS camp-- and probably not because he likes it, but because he's a tin-eared homophobe.
