Both are closing, but which do you think was the better show?
Pirate Queen without a doubt.
Try to rephrase that
Which one was worse?
Why do we have to pick?
Honestly, I thought Tarzan was better.
Pirate Queen is easily the better show. It just happened to be the token bad show of a really strong season, whereas Tarzan was the extremely bad show of a really weak season. Pirate Queen had some qualities that were good. There was nothing worth while about Tarzan (in my bottom two worst shows I have seen).
^Josh Strickland.
Not even. Maybe easy on the eyes, but a terrible actor.
Mmmm, I don't know. I'd rather see Josh Strickland stand still for an hour than sit through either musical.
I liked both of them a lot and while others might always list them as the worst shows they've ever seen they'll always be on my guilty pleasures list.
I enjoyed them both, but I'd personally give the edge to The Pirate Queen on my list. It just spoke to me a little more. (My dad was disappointed about Tarzan...I kind of think he was going to say "Let's see if there's tickets" when they're up here visiting ~ in spite of the cultural whiplash that would be cause by seeing The Year of Magical Thinking one night and Tarzan the next day. LOL.)
THE PIRATE QUEEN was far and beyond better than TARZAN
why these are both being compared in the same question is kind of funny to me, haha.
but im a rare specimen- a fan of THE PIRATE QUEEN.

Neither show was very good.
But we went to see Tarzan with expectations: Disney, Phil Collins, Bob Crowley. That the show was such a mess was amplified by the names attached to it. It was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
We knew The Pirate Queen was going to be dreck. It was the sort of show you can sort of smell coming. Still it is the kind of failure that folds and then is forgotten.
Tarzan has to be the weakest written musical I have seen on Broadway by name people in many years. Then it was directed by the designer. Bad move.
Does anyone know why Ticketmaster is selling tickets beyond July 8th? Also how busy is student rush? I'm thinking of seeing it just because it's another musical I can add to my list, even though I've been hearing awful things about it.
Ticketmaster takes forever to change their site when shows post a closing notice. Especially a sudden one. The rush was a bit crazy on Sunday however it was also a weekend. Most people got there around an hour and a half before they went on sale. I would get there around two hours before they do and you'll be fine
Do we need to pick? I thought both were terrible.
For me, the lesser of these two evils would be The Pirate Queen.
I think Grace O'Malley's sword would surely kill Tarzan, but he would probably swing away quickly on his vine and have one of his gorilla friends throw coconuts at her. I think it would be a tie.
Tarzan was laughable.
I saw PR and enjoyed myself. The end of the first act through the second act were quite good as the first act had lowered my expectations. I especially loved the funeral scene and the woman performing traditional Irish music throughout.

The Pirate Queen was way better. The only reason Tarzan stayed around as long as it did was because it had an automatic fanbase since it was produced by Disney.

Haha, sorry had to point that out.

Tarzan.
By FAR.
A more interesting question is how many shows like Grey Gardens and Spring Awakening could have been produced with the combined budgets of these two flops,
What was strong this season? Grey Gardens? I'll give you Grey Gardens...but this season was weak! I hope you were not talking about spring awakening and mary poppins?
Danni, best to quit now before people remember your name.
