Piragua, that seems like a practical list. I can see that list being the actual nominees.

Posted: 5/1/09 at 4:36pmSooo does anyone else think that Norman Conquests has a massive advantage of all 3 plays being one for revival. Not that I'd ever expect them to be considered separately, but 7 hours of entertainment compared to the other contenders can't hurt right?

It worked for The Coast of Utopia, especially when three separate designers designing three separate plays are nominated (and win!) jointly. I think that's a little worse than the three Billys being nominated together. At least the boys are all doing the same role. Those designers had three separate designs for three different plays.

Posted: 5/1/09 at 4:40pmI don't think it's because there are three plays, but because they are so good and had an amazing critical rception.

I think Piragua's list is pretty accurate.
I love Carole Shelley, but don't think she deserves a nomination because she had nothing to do in Billy Elliot. Still, with all three 9 to 5 ladies in leading actress, there is a dearth of potential nominees there, so she could end up sneaking in.

NORMAN CONQUESTS counts as one play for the sole reason that its weekly schedule of eight shows a week is a mix of all three plays.
Each individual play only has 2-3 performances a week. So they would not be eligible individually, because on Broadway, shows play eight times a week.

I would not be surprised if one or two of the ladies from 9 to 5 are left out. I knew they weren't going to be split up into Featured AND Leading.
I wouldn't be shocked if only Janney is nominated, or if Block was the only one NOT nominated.
And I would not rule out a sneak-in from the girls from [tos], at least ONE of them, in Featured Actress. The show is adored by folks in the industry, the ladies are well-liked and provided real heart to the show. I hesitate to say that, were it up to me, I'd nominate Blackwell over Blickenstaff.
In terms of plays, I believe that all four men from Godot have great shots at nominations now. But I'd think that Bill Irwin and John Goodman will most likely be nominated. Goodman's performance was highly lauded. They may honor Norman Conquests by awarding it Best Revival, and that representing the considerable talents of the cast.

Posted: 5/1/09 at 5:37pmDoes anyone think Equus will get any nods? With the Tony awards getting desperate for viewers and Potter Season right around the corner I was kinda expecting it, but with so many other great plays this season, and Equus not selling as well as hoped It seems less likely.

Radcliffe deserves a nomination solely based on the merits of his performance, not the Potter connection or any other reason. Whether or not he'll get one is another matter entirely.
I hope he does.

Posted: 5/2/09 at 1:20pmBoth Radcliffe and Esparza should be nominated. I can understand if Raul isnt but I think he should be. And Potter or not Radcliffe was outstanding. I also think if one of the 3 9to5 girls is left out Id think it be Megan Hilty. SJB would get it before her I would think.

Nah, I think Megan shines more than Stephanie. I think she has more support. Look at the sole Outer Critics nomination for Megan.
