The idea of Spider-Man getting a Best Musical nomination is suddenly no longer looking like such a foreign concept to me anymore....

I'm not predicting the technical categories, but I expect to see a lot of nods for "Spiderman", "Ghost" and "Follies" in the musical categories, and "Clybourne", "One Man", and "Other Desert Cities" on the play side.
I'm starting to wonder, since some of the new musicals have been kinda lackluster this season, and with the Tony committee getting rid of that "Special Event" Tony, if Hugh Jackman's one man show ran long enough for it to get nominated into "Best Musical"? Isn't that where those go now, one man shows sans singing goes into plays, and with singing goes into musicals?
I'd rather have that nominated than Spider-Man...

On the Play front I honestly think Peter and the Starcatcher is going to come out the big winner of the night...I am not saying that it will win Best Play, but I am saying that I think I will win the most awards for a play, its probably going to sweep all four technical categories since it is the only period/fantasy play..(I know One Man Two Guvnors is a period piece, but its not that an outrageous period with crazy costumes like Peter since they are all basically in suites, its only award worthy costume is possibly Tom Edden's makeup)

I can see Once being like Titanic (the movie) and sweep the technical and Best awards but not be nominated in the acting categories.

OK, so here are my predictions. I have not seen any of the shows that have opened in the last month and a half, so a lot of this is based on the reviews and not my own personal opinion. I decided not to do set, costume, lighting, sound or orchestrations ...I'd rather wait until I see everything first on those.

Sierra Boggess isn't eligible for anything this year...?
Understudy Joined: 8/12/06
Sierra Boggess is indeed eligible this year, thespian geek, for her performance in Master Class, which opened in June of last year, putting it in this award season. WILL Sierra be nominated? No. Her performance was too long ago and, frankly, nothing all that special. Many of her reviews only compared her performance to Audra McDonald's, who I think overshadowed her in the part.

I'm too lazy to do a whole bracket, but I think that Peter and the Starcatcher will sweep tech nominations/wins and get some acting nominations, but it won't be nominated for Best Play. Spiderman will get loads of technical nominations, but I don't think it will win a lot of them.
Broadway Star Joined: 7/5/10
It's probably likely that Leap of Faith could end up Wonderlanded tomrw with Zero noms right?
I really hope Jessie Mueller gets nominated but I don't think Jessie, Melissa AND Da'Vine will make it with Judy Kaye and Elaine Page.
They just announced Bernadette Peters will get the Isabelle Stevenson award!
Since Bernadette Peters is getting a Special Award...does this disqualify her from the Best Actress in a Musical race...like Mary Testa and the Drama Desk Awards?

no, she can still be nominated, although it might hurt her chances, it could be that they already decided they aren't nominating her so they gave her this award instead. we'll see!

Every year there is a random nomination no one was talking about like Karine Plantadit or Maria Dizzia or Joanna Lumley ( I think Tammy Blanchard was a surprise as well, who will it be this year?
