It's for their Matinee. Not the Tonys.

It's already been publicized that Hamilton is doing a medley which includes "Wait For It." I don't think the white costumes have any significance either way, but if it did include "Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story" I would think that might be amended in some way.

Maybe if they change the opening number, they'll have filmed one of the dress rehearsals and post it online for us to see? It seems like a shame for us to miss it.
I highly doubt they will change it, I think it's important to rather than change this celebration of our culture it is more important to include/acknowledge these people in to it.

I don't think she would ever do it with so little rehearsal time, but having Barbra sing for the victims would be powerful.

No they aren't. I was just at the rehearsal. I had no idea any of this had happened until just now. Horrible.

Just announced that Hamilton will be performing without muskets tonight.

I thought they made an announcement about the ceremony being dedicated to the victims during the rehearsal?

At the very least, the telecast of tonight's Tony's should be dedicated in some way to the victims and their families. Someone suggested earlier that they should do an impromptu performance of "You've Got To Be Carefully Taught" , which is a wonderful choice, and made me think of two more: "Seasons Of Love" from "RENT" or "You'll Never Walk Alone" from "Carousel".....the latter gets me every time!
Something as simple as them showing a quiet dedication of the show to the victims, their friends and families for 30 seconds before the show starts I feel would be enough. Personally, I am against any kind of maudlin tribute song or number. I can cry over this horrific event well enough without having someone hit me over the head with it. We will not be brought down by this hateful and cowardly attack!
I live and work in entertainment in Orlando. My house is not even a mile from the night club, where several of my dancer and performer friends frequent. The whole thing feels surreal and I haven't been this upset and immobile as long as I have lived in this city.
That being said, the one thing I have been looking forward to all day is the Tony Awards. My friends and family here in Orlando need the Tonys. I absolutely cannot wait.

Yorktown has lines including "we can not let a stray gunshot give us away," and Hamilton in general likes to hype the line about not throwing away your "shot". I wonder if they're needing to make additional last-minute changes to their presentation in order to not appear insensitive.

They are performing "Yorktown," not a medley.

It would be odd to do Yorktown without the muskets to be honest. I wonder if the Tonys will still have the campy beginning number.
huh, someone on Facebook aggressively told me "They're doing a 7-minute medley........" when I commented about the song being spoiled.

Canceling/postponing the Tony's would make ISIS very happy and give them a sense of accomplishment.

Several snapchats I saw from dress rehearsals include the Schuyler Sisters so they have to be doing more than Yorktown.

If they were to do a snippet of its quiet uptown about losing a child killed by gunfire I think I will bawl uncontrollably in light of today's events.....
....you hold your child as tight as you can and push away the unimaginable......
I think their PR, bolstered by the heavy social media use of many members of the cast, has very deliberately put out lots of conflicting information about what they're going to be performing. The latest I've seen says they're going to do History Has Its Eyes On You + Yorktown straight through, but I have no personal confirmation.
They are also including both rory and Jonathan in the number.

I did not see them during the rehearsal performance.
Though who knows, they may have decided after the morning rehearsal to change from "Yorktown" to something else considering all the references that number has to guns, shooting & counting the dead.
There was not an official announcement about the shooting during the rehearsal, one of the stand-ins briefly mentioned it during her "acceptance speech" though at the time I had no idea what that was referencing.
I do wonder if they will cut a brief part of the opening number where
James Corden sings a bit from Les Mis and gets shot.
'The show must go on; Carry on regardless' it must ! For the people performing there will be unimaginable saddness in their hearts and the audiences' joy will be clouded in tears.
The TV viewers, 99.9% are theatre lovers so they are already 'tolerant and liberal' to the diverse ways of society so the Tonys' gathering is necessary to unify the entire theatre world of performers and audiences.
To those who have no idea what a Tony is perhaps the solidarity of this one night event can show that there is Hope, Love [and Peace] amongst all that Singin' & Dancin' for 3 hours.
There will be a many speeches being rewritten, jokes amended and improv discarded but 'carry-on' it must.

I am also from Orlando and of course completely devastated. But I feel that we need the Tony Awards tonight. Postpoing would be the wrong answer. Not that anything will make us be able to stop thinking about what happened, but I know the people in my little section of the community want and need some distraction. The Tonys won't be tasteless...they will be welcomed.

This was not a terrorist attack, it was a hate crime. Isis was not behind this.

ISIS has taken credit for the attack and the shooter said he was part of the Islamic State.
