Tony snubs that bother you? (Actress)

Rachel York played the role that Leslie Ann Warren got a Oscar nomination for in the movie.

plus Rachel won the Drama Desk for Best Featured Actress - Musical that year and then wasn't even nominated. Ouch!

bbb, yes Stritch has had a great career, but she was snubbed as Parthy in Show Boat.

What makes it doubly insulting was that that was the year that they only had two nominees in Best Actress category. If she was put in that category she still would have been beat out by Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard.

In Featured Actress, they nominated three of the women from Smokey Joe's Cafe. Gretha Boston took it for Show Boat (and was deserving) but Stritch should have at least been in one of those categories.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Kristin Chenoweth -The Apple Tree
Laura Benanti - Nine
Sherie Rene Scott - Aida
Amy Spanger - Kiss Me, Kate
Megan Mullally - H2$
Bebe Neuwirth - Damn Yankees

Good or bad, these performances still stand out in my mind. So maybe not wins but at least noms?

I thought Megan Mullally was deserving for her role of 'Elizabeth' in Young Frankenstein. She has a great voice.

This year: Uzo Aduba in Godspell.

She is giving such a stellar performance that will surely be overlooked.

Rachel York wasn't snubbed, she was egregiously overlooked.

The fact that Andrews was the only nomination for Victor/Victoria drove me batty. Probably the last nomination I would have given that show. I found her beyond bland and the rest of the cast made the show far more entertaining and interesting. Then I had my first opportunity to see Liza perform while Andrews was on vacation and suddenly you saw the show's true potential. The only wrong move they made in the changes was cutting Louis Says. It was a shame Andrews had to return and then Racquel Welch just sealed the show's fate. That was some real boneheaded casting.

The only one that really bothers me is Kristin Chenoweth for The Apple Tree. I thought she was fantastic in that.

I just hope that Bernadette Peters isn't going to be snubbed this year.

Tonya Pinkins should have won for Caroline, or Change.

Barbara Walsh should have been nominated over Karen Ziemba in '07 for Company.

*Edit

Just realized this said Best Actress. Well in terms of someone who should've just won over someone else, I found Nikki M. James good in THE BOOK OF MORMON, but Laura Benanti ran circles around her in WOMEN ON THE VERGE.

I thought Benanti had in the bag until I saw James perform. Then I knew it could go either way (and was rooting for both of them), though Benanti definitely delivered one of the most memorable numbers I've ever seen with Model Behavior.

In addition to the ones already mentioned, Erin Davie in Grey Gardens.

BroadwayFan-Absolutely agree with you on that. She was amazing in that role.

I also loved her in A Little Night Music. She really nailed the role beautifully.

Victoria Clark in TITANIC
Kim Crosby and Danielle Ferland in INTO THE WOODS
D'Jamin Bartlett in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC

I was surprised Erin Davie wasn't nominated for A Little Night Music just on the basis that someone else won a Tony for that role.
(always strange when someone can Win a Tony, then someone else plays the role, and doesn't even get nominated)

also strange when they change up category placement, like with Viola Davis winning in lead for Fences for the same role Mary Alice won for in Featured.

I love Rachel York in V/V but she basically just did a cabon copy of Lesley Ann Warren-a complete copy ..which was great but not Tony material as far as I can see to me it was like seeing the 2nd best thing.
I agree that Daniel Jenkins was great in Big-the show was not a bad show-I think it was timing -with Rent and Bring in da noice

Def Vicky Clark in TITANIC (and Darcey-James also, but he's a boy).

I heard there was some bad feelings because the producers of TITANIC didn't petition any of the actors.

YES.

Also, I feel Celia Keenan Bolger was snubbed for Putnam County, and Laura Benanti for Woman on the Verge.

"Also, I feel Celia Keenan Bolger was snubbed for Putnam County..."

She was nominated, and lost to Sara Ramirez in Spamalot. Also nominated that year were Kelli O'Hara in Piazza, Joanna Gleason in Scoundrels, and Jan Maxwell for Chitty. I loved Spelling Bee and thought she was terrific, but I'd hardly call her snubbed that year.
