Who would you say are the top 10 theatre people of all time? Actors, dancers, directors, designers, producers, whatever.

To you, this could be most important, favorite, best personalities, etc. - but in general: THE TOP 10.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

oh dear. I'll try, but it will be difficult.

1. Leonard Bernstein
2. Stephen Sondheim
3. Kander and Ebb (Am I allowed to pair them up?)
4. Rodgers and Hammerstein (well, I'll just pair them up too)
5. Florenz Ziegfeld (thanks Feodor for reminding me)
6. Ethel Merman
7. Jerome Robbins
8. Hal Prince
9. Bob Fosse
10. Jonathon Larson

For some reason, its a lot easier to think of the behind the scenes people. They influence so much more though, in my opinion.

In no order...I just can't decide an order.

Leonard Bernstein
Stephen Sondheim
Richard Rodgers
Oscar Hammerstein
Jerome Robbins
Michael Bennett
Jonathon Larson (I know, one big show, but I think it has some major contributions)
Bob Fosse
Jule Styne
Hal Prince

Edit: I chose behind the scenes people as well, because I feel they have a stronger influence...I suppose.
