This is a pretty great show for a nice night in the town. The set is quite clever and I think serves the show well. The music for the Douglas character is significantly better written than Robin, IMO. And his story is also better. It helps that Tutty is an absolute firecracker of a performer. I liked Pitts but I think Robin's story doesn't take off till we are 40 minutes in, and by then it's too late. As an audience member, I don't care nearly as much about her anymore. Unless they add a couple more layers to her story too, I don't see it lasting very long on Broadway. But I do wish it the absolute best, I think these performers deserve it and the show definitely has legs.

This show has zero chance of making in on Broadway. It's a shame that ART did not bring in the true piece of art, Passing Strange instead."
Was trying to figure out what this replaced on their schedule, a bummer because they production was suppose to be excellent/aiming for Broadway

I saw the show in London and I think I know what you are referring to. I was shocked and had to question myself if it really happened as it does change how one thinks about one of the characters in the show. I was hoping they'd change it once it comes to the USA but I guess they didn't.
As someone who has worked in customer service before, I know what it's like to say "what'll it be?" to strangers and keep up a face. That song really hit me emotionally.

Any word on whether this production will transfer down from Boston? The A.R.T. Run ends in 2 weeks. Am hoping we get this for the fall season.

I saw this earlier in the week. Went with a big group (9 altogether) and opinions ranged from 'enjoyed it a lot' to 'absolutely loved it'. Thought that Sam Tutty was great and was really impressed to see that he won a Tony for playing Evan Hansen, about as different a character as humanly possible. I thought the female lead, whose name I cannot remember right this minute (no programs) was also very good.
If the issue that prior posters are referring to has to do with a past assignation on the part of the female character, that was almost required to make any sense out of the degree to which she was a gofer, yet wasn't invited to the wedding.
If it had to do with the real invitation, that did not work for me -- didn't seem like the time or the place to bring the issue out into the open. I did not let that illogic keep me from enjoying the show.
The only thing I will add is that, as with almost every other musical the last few seasons, the music did not stand out. It was not bad,
I doubt that this would succeed on Broadway -- it is very slight -- but I would agree that a larger off-Broadway theatre might be the way to go.

The A.R.T. run ends on Sunday. Has anyone heard anything more about a transfer to NYC? Perhaps in the fall?

The rumor I've seen is that this was trying to get the Booth after John Proctor, but Little Bear beat it out. Hopefully that means Two Strangers will book another theater this fall or perhaps spring.

Happy closing to the team in Cambridge today.
We hope to see you in the actual city where the cake is being carried across very soon!
