I don't think it's Andrew's responsiblity to issue a public statement, just like it's not part of an actors' job to stage door. They owe us nothing other than what's on stage.

I don't expect him to say anything.
He’s right to stay quiet; it’s a lose-lose for him. “I love this show” which he posted when he joined is the best he can do.
His lines and lyrics in the show on his opening night will be his statement. He should deliver them with pride and joy. All the best to him!!!
And as we can see from Chris Peterson’s demands, nothing is ever going to be enough. The writers have made statements, Helen has (not that she needed to), and now he’s asking for Andrew’s statement. But after that, it will be “Where’s Darren’s statement? Where’s AEA’s statement? Where’s David Belasco’s ghost’s statement?”
Nothing will ever be enough.

Chris & OnStageBlog are all about manufacturing sanctimonious outrage to drive clicks and traffic. Remember when they were trying to publish their own version of the infamous unpublished NYT piece?
While he didn’t make a personal statement, he did share Helen’s statement on social media.

He's busy preparing his audition for Effie in a Dreamgirls revival.

Effie, but nice try.
My God, people are still talking about this? I guess like 2 people are in the other thread still trying to change people’s minds and will continue screaming into the wind at no one. Adorable.
Andrew owes nothing to anyone and he’ll be excellent in the part, like the people who cast him knew he would be.

The sad thing is, they’re going to succumb to the mob and only cast Asians from now on. I hope for the sake of the beautiful show that they can keep running for a long time.

And not only here. The Facebook and Instagram comments on OnStageBlog’s post are full of white saviors riding in and declaring how ashamed they are and Andrew should be.

I just read some of the Facebook comments on the post. Wow.

Not much diversity of opinion on there, that’s for sure
OnStage's IG post has a grand total of 22 comments. Call the police, a revolution is happening. Or something.
90% of what Chris Peterson does with that blog is take a position of moral authority on every possible issue surrounding the theater and lecture the reader on how so-and-so/the reader/the industry at large needs to "do better." It's truly exhausting. I still follow it only to read the comments, which are hilariously self-righteous and written mostly by bitter out of work actors. The whole thing is pathetic, really.
