Near the end of Act 2 at today's matinee of Hello, Dolly!, the Bette Midler side-splitting adlibs were many, as the Scene 4 courtroom scene sequed to the final Hudson River Valley, totally skipping the return to Vandergelder's Hay and Feed Store.

Bette sat on the stage floor to deliver her lines, then stood and shook off oodles of salt from her costume.  The spilled salt was from the earlier Harmonia Garden's Scene. 

"We're missing our set," she beamed at one point.

Amazingly, the cast's movement was fluid, with no break in the show.

Did Falsettos never have a set mishap? I don't keep track of shows in this manner... nor rank them based on this.

What the p*uck are you taking about?  This is only the 2nd set malfunction since the show started in March 2017.  We’re in October - 7 months into the run.

I cannot roll my eyes any bigger at Alex Kulak2.   

 

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Wait so So Long Dearie and Horace's last "I never knew, Dolly" was at the courtroom/Riverside? I think it would work just fine, but wondering how the scene where crew comes back to demand their money and stuff was done.

I was at the show today. I loved it. They did the scene in front of the scrim used at bows.

I missed Falsettos also -- I walked out at intermission! Ugh! What a dated bore that was.
