I never got to see Vanessa as the witch, and I've heard a ton of bad things about her as the witch-but I really wish I had gotten to watch her. I kinda liked her as the witch on the recording. I liked hearing something other than Bernadette on a recording. I OD'd on the OBCR. I listened to it for months after we did it at our school. I seem to have a problem with that...OD'ing on Broadway shows. ITW-my first OD-about 10 months of nothing but it, Wicked-7-ish months, still going. Godspell-9 months, Q-3 months (still going ) My name is Parks, and I have a problem.

I'd also like to give a shout-out to the 'original' Witch (from the Old Globe...or was it Lajolla?...production) Ellen Foley. She was quite divine.

Saw her when the original Bway prodcution was in its final weeks- she was definitely my favorite of all the witches (six) that I saw in both productions.

I've only ever heard Bernadette as the Witch... while she was pretty good, I thought the witch was the most boring role Into The Woods. It was fun to watch once, but I couldn't listen to it after that.

From what I remember Betty was with it all the way to costumes and wigs before she was out.
But I believe you when you say he expanded it for Peters.
