Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery! Joint replacements are rough, but she is an amazingly tough woman.
Considering this is a star(s) vehicle, I am sure when the producers have Key man insurance on both Ms Lupone and Ms Ebersole. As we all know the production is barely if at all making ends meet, so I am sure when Patti brought her hip replacement needs to the attention of the producers, they saw $$ since they could now cash in their policy and recoup a lot more of their investment then they would of playing to December 30th.
Unlike Shuffle Along which tried to do the same thing when Audra became unexpectedly pregnant, I expect the insurer to actually pay out for War Paint. Thus I think we might now have to define War Paint as a "hit".
Unlike Shuffle Along, which is currently having to sue their insurer to cash in on their policy after Audra unexpected pregnancy.
Smart move though. Hip replacement surgery can take anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months to recover from. She should be fine for London.
Here's wishing her a successful surgery and a full recovery.
I love how they just slyly mentioned Douglas leaving!
That very likely explains why she was out on Sunday the 8th. Her understudy was great, and by the end of the show she had won over the audience.
Looks like all discounts have been pulled.
Here's the release...they will be "face to face" until Nov. 5th!

Anyone have experience with the $40 best Available (Orchestra or Mezz.) offered on Today Tix?

I'm quite sad, I had hoped to see this in November.

Is Douglass Sills still in the show? Didn't read anywhere that he has left.
The Playbill announcement mentioned that Doug Sills left the production.

Playbill states it. Broadwayworld: not so much.

Friends of mine did it and they said even though the mezzanine was half full they were given Row N in the Rear Mezz on the side.
Is there a reason why Helena Rubinstein could not just be in a Rascal Scooter? She could just roll right down that gangplank for Back On Top.

Thanks for the info. Coming to NYC for less than 48 hours. I only had option for two shows. Got a free ticket to The Band's Visit through Audience Rewards. Was considering War Paint, M Butterfly or Time and the Conways for the second slot. With Douglas's departure and Patti's hip, my short list just got shorter.

What a great show and great performances. I will miss War Paint.
Saw the show tonight and Patti was indeed clearly having some difficulty walking quickly. They seemed to incorporate it well, by allowing Helena to lean on someone (or a desk) as she stood, and there were a couple moments when she barely made it off stage in time.
She was wonderful, all the same, of course. Brought down the house more than once. (As did "Pink," too, of course.)
As many have said, it's not a perfect show, but those two women are giving master classes in musical theatre and it's beautifully produced.
