I think the hope is that posting a closing notice will push some people who have been on the fence to see it.
Very sad, but not unexpected. Hoping to catch this one more time.

I don’t think it’s a terrible run for this type of show. It will have played only a few less performances than Grey Gardens. It also had some VERY successful weeks in the beginning.

Definitely a longer run than I'd have expected for this show.

This is around when I expected this to end. It's a star vehicle with two of the greatest divas in Broadway history who are, ultimately, irreplacable for a further run.
For what it was worth, I enjoyed it as more than just the campy catnip I was expecting. "Face to Face" still gives me chills.
Congratulations on a great run for everyone involved!

Knew this was coming, but devastated. It's a beautiful show with beautiful music and Patti and Christine gave the performances of the season IMO.

Let's be real, how many of us expected this to outlive most of the departed musicals from last season? A good run for a show of this type.

Especially given what I think are superior shows like Groundhog Day and Bandstand finished their runs with 176 and 166 performances respectively. How is it that this show with lower weekly grosses can get to 300 performances?

Because Sunday the 31st is New Year's Eve and the Times Square area will be bat****. Better to close the night before. They've added a Friday matinee on December 29th to make up for it.

Yeah, that dawned on me after I posted. But wondered why they even scheduled a performance for that afternoon.

Personally not a fan of the show, but Patti and Christine are both extremely talented women and I wish them all the best going forward.

Love Patti and Christine, but it's time for this snoozer to close. Can't believe it took so long.

300 performances is nothing to sneeze at, though you have to wonder for the upteenth time why investors throw money at shows thinking they will recoup their costs

Platt and Stone can afford it. I applaud their commitment to this show and these 2 star performers - and maybe the lack of other musicals this fall will help their sales between now and December?
(and as someone else alluded to here --- Grey Gardens ran 307 performances and Lupone's Gypsy ran 332, so 300 is pretty good. Great Comet had 336.)

This show will have a life in community theaters. Every community has their rival divas and local audiences will eat it up!

Seeing two drag queens playing these roles would be great fun!

No mystery there. David Stone has made his investors millions from WICKED --- so when he asks them to toss in a few hundred thousand for a new project they reach for their checkbooks without a second thought. Especially if they want him to come back to them when he has his next WICKED. Whatever people might think of him personally, he has a great Broadway track record.

My heart dropped when I saw the announcement. Not out of shock, since we all watched the grosses, but....I just love this show. I wish it had found an audience because while not the most exciting musical in the world, the performances were amazing and it is a respectable piece of work.
I went in knowing nothing about it except for the two stars. To be honest, I usually look for discount codes, TodayTix, ShowScore, etc for tickets but I paid full price three times for this show.
I will be going back, at the very least two more times. I wonder if Patti will stand by her comments on this being her last musical on Broadway....

I will say, there were about four drag queens in Chicago fighting to perform, "Pink" first when the cast recording was released.

A bit sad to hear this, but I'm mostly cheered that it was able to last as long as it did. A thoroughly delightful show with an(outside of these boards) underrated-ly clever score. And hoo boy, those performances! And costumes! I'm so thankful to have experienced it and I wish everyone involved more successes in the future.
