Bummer...now officially all three shows I really wanted to see this fall are going to be closed before I can get into the city. At least Earnest is supposed to be good so I have one option...

I know I'm in the minority, but I liked this show. Granted I didn't see it in previews, but I don't think it deserved all the bad buzz.
Anyways, I think this news is mostly distressing because it's just one more nail in the coffin for the cast recording. Such a shame.

Someone on ATC mentioned that after a certain date, a cast album could be made without the ridiculous (or not so ridiculous, depending on your point of view) terms Equity makes producers agree to when recording cast albums.

Sad. As much bad buzz as this show got, I enjoyed it, and thought the music was fantastic -- such a great cast. Shame. I plan on renting the movie this week.

Too bad that things worked out so badly for this show. I enjoyed it, and in fact, liked it more than any other new musical this season or last. I'm sorry too that there will be no cast recording.

Jordan, to answer your question about understudies, LuPone and Stokes are both scheduled to be in. I don't know about the other principals, but I haven't read anything.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

If you want a bootleg get it the usual way. But people who post them on YouTube and draw that attention to them deserve to be taken out back and beaten with a stick until they have no skin left on them. Then they should be covered with honey and thrown into an ant hill.
