Why did I do homework this morning? Thank you so much for this- I'd heard before that the free trial didn't cover the channel that broadcast this. But tuning in late is better than missing it all. :)
I prefer her to Bernadette. Have a live bootleg of Melissa and Raul doing the show at the Kennedy Center. And I most definately prefer the beauty in Melissa's voice to the harshness in Bernadette's.

I disagree. To put it mildly. :) Peters' performance on the OBC of Sunday is so lively and multi-dimensional it practically leaps out of the speakers. And she actually moved me to tears in "We Do Not Belong Together."
Yes, it's pretty much as definitive as Lansbury's Lovett or Gleason's Baker's Wife. How could she not move a person to tears with We Do Not Belong Together?
YES! You go, Michael Cerveris! that last number alone ought to guarantee him at least another dozen Tony nods over the next 30 years. it's nice watching someone become a Broadway institution.

I'm slightly disappointed in Cerveris' performance as George... just now, in "Color and Light", he wasn't able to spit out the lyrics in the more intense parts particularly well, and it seemed to disrupt the song. Otherwise, though, I really like him. Not sure about Melissa... I'd really have to see her in the role to make a judgement.
wow, I was just very impressed by Michael in that song. He did the Mandy thing without doing a Mandy impression. I wish I'd seen Raul in the role, just for a comparison.
Melissa is in an awkward position having stepped in as the actor to associate with that role nowadays. Being compared to Bernadette at Bernadette's finest is something no one should have to deal with. I'm hoping for her to find that perfect breakout role, one where she can create the character and do so in a show that's less of disappointment than AMOUR and less of a punchline than DRACULA.
This piano concerto is making me lethargic, when's Judy on?
