If - on the off chance - my high praise is off base, the O.P. needs to seek immediate help to cure the voices he / she must hear in their head - or perhaps it is radio signals received through fillings.  Whatever.

In the spirit of my first thought - Perhaps Theater Guy should explore nefarious contributions of Michael Greiff - who simultaneously directed an actual Marc Platt show (tellingly, one with two divas but no make lead to compete with Ben) - and DEH.  I mean, clearly, the elaborate conspiracy was calibrated to make sure DEH won six Tonys - to make it less obvious Ben's was "bought" - yet make sure Greiff was snubbed for best director.  The paycheck Greiff received for War Paint was his payoff  for taking a fall in DEH.

Come to think of it - Platt was an even greater "evil genius" - opening a new musical he was the producer of - to compete directly with the show he was the "secret producer" of!  Who would ever suspect!

Theaterguy11 isn't joking. He believes what he's saying, and then some. No praise warranted.

Then I'm going back to drinking while lurking.  Too hard to remember password and log on.  Much easier to read while buzzed.

I think we also need to explore the conspiracy to keep Indecent open after it was announced it would close. Clearly Evil Marc Platt paid off all those audience members who posted flattering things about Indecent on social media. Obviously they (including my former boss and my high school English teacher) were all plants. Marc Platt clearly wants to establish his cred as a producer of serious plays so Ben can move straight from DEH to another serious-themed play to buy his second Tony next year. We need to be investigating this thoroughly! Anyone know the phone number for the FBI?

The funniest part is that I'm not even OP!

I think you may be on to something regarding Greiff. I wonder if he's just a hostage in the situation though. He probably wasn't down with the nepotism in DEH, wanted to cast an appealing actor, but was forced to cast Platt Spawn.  Marc Platt knew he was probably the director best equipped to appear to guid his spawn to the trophy, so he had him also direct War Paint to throw him a bone. I definitely believe War Paint was brought in to rob gay men of their money and be a stalking horse Tony opposition.
