Oh, dear lord, no. Just... no. Stop.
He had nothing to do with Sunday withdrawing. Two separate shows, with only the most tenuous of connections (and I'll let you lead yourself down that rabbit hole).

The story that seems to have more behind it is yours. I know we all need hobbies, but man, lay off and work on your own craft rather than concern-trolling and being a hot mess about Ben Platt.

Lizzie- have loved reading your posts on here for years. Respect your opinions but I think this one is off base. This is a Broadway message board. The Platt Matter is clearly a scandal and it involves a potentially stolen Tony Award! I'm pretty sure you'd agree that we can all work on our crafts *and* discuss the latest Broadway scandals of the day. This matter is a doozy worthy of discussion for sure!
Never mind

Ben Platt had that glowing NYT profile in the middle of Tony Season. I am certain his Tony campaign was guided by the very powerful money man Marc Platt.
The New York Times also ran at least one high profile hit pieces on the Miss Saigon revival. Jon Jon Briones was robbed of a nomination and the award.
So did Denee Benton. That's how this works. The New York Times profiles breakout stars of the season. They did the same for Lin last year, and I'm sure they have done many more. Nothing weird there at all. Just go climb back under your little rock and stop being so unbelievably bitter please.
This thread is bringing on the laughs. I fully expect theaterguy to say Marc Platt arranged for the brexit vote to defeat possible competition from the west end so he could pull off this huge Tony heist.

Robbing means you take something from someone that they already have. It does not work in this context. Learn words.

I wouldn't put it past him honestly. He managed to take out Jake G and Jon Jon B. His tensest moments must have been when Andy Karl won the Olivier and then had that headline grabbing injury. The plan almost unraveled there for sure.

And convinced his friend Scott Rudin to pull out of Groundhog Day to sink its Broadway chances.

Yowza. This just might be the most batsh#t crazy thread that i've seen on this board.
And i can't stop myself from checking each update.

Ooooh! That's probably right. I know you're saying it in jest but I think you are onto something here. Rudin and Marc Platt clearly are allies in this matter.

So who's Seth Abramson? We need a Sarah Kendzior too.

Has Marc Platt been secretly funneling money to ISIS so that the refugee crisis would affect the brexit vote and thus cause this disruption to the West End? While you're at it did Marc Platt also arrange for the turntable to be extra slippery so Andy Karl would blow out his knees and maybe die?
BREAKING NEWS. I've done some detective work and have discovered that Ben Platt and theaterguy11 went to high school together in CA and that they were a hot and heavy item, but in the fall of their senior year Ben dumped him, and it wasn't pretty. And to make matters worse, a few weeks later, Platt beat him out for the lead in the school play, and theaterguy11 was both crushed and enraged. He went on a rant claiming that the only reason that Platt got the part was because of his father.

Nah- As I said Karl's injury was probably the Platt's most tense moment of the campaign. It was a national story (kind of?) that got Karl a great bit of sympathy and probably swung a few votes his way.

This is outrageously fake news. I'm way older than Ben, grew up in NorCal and Ben is straight. The man may be an untalented hack and Tony award stealer but lets not start spreading false lies about his sexuality.

Lol ! Theaterguy is just trying to get a rise out of people and everyone seems to be falling for it. He can't possibly be serious

Ben Platt us not married to a person of either sex. Thanks for using my tongue in cheek post to demonstrate what a complete and utter buffoon you are

I have a friend who works for his mom's law firm. The hunger strike sit-in begins tomorrow morning outside their office, for theaterguy11 and anyone else who's interested.

If I thought he was talented I wouldn't care that much...although a father buying his kid a Tony is a pretty big scandal no?
I had another thought- perhaps Marc Platt was involved in the decision for Sunday In The Park to withdraw from consideration. I'd like to think Jake G would have won the Tony had he been eligible for nomination."
whether or not you agree is immaterial to the fact that he has a gorgeous singing voice. get your ears checked.

I just want to give Theaterguy some props for how he's moved the story along. Notice how he started with just saying he probably got the part cause of his dad and slowly, slowly, he's introduced conspiratorial elements with subplots like Pasek and Paul's speech and Platt maybe being a shadow producer and little by little we finally got to the "Tony was fixed and his dad bought it for him" and this "Sunday in the Park" element he's just introduced is sheer genius. Lesser skilled trolls would be impatient and jump too quickly to the most ridiculous assumptions but Theaterguy patiently developed his story little by little nudging it along and adding small pieces with each post.. That is some quality work out of you, boss. That's how it's done kids. Some of the 15 year old trolls on here could learn a lot from this guy. Respect!
