Week 4, (Recording May, 5&6) Gypsy CR Annoucement Watch

CR being recorded on May 5&6, release expected in the theatre Mid- June.

The Gypsy CD was supposed to be announced this week, and there has been no announcement. I'm losing hope.

Apparentlly they are producing it but there has been no official announcement that it is happening.

I emailed Patti and she said that there WILL be a cast recording.

I went on talkingbroadway.com and it says its supposed to be recorded may 5th and 6th.

Per Laura Benanti, Time Life Records is recording the album May 5 & 6.

divarobbie2 is correct. May 5th and 6th are the dates. The contract has been signed. I can't wait for this recording to be released...it is going to be FANTASTIC...and I really hope there is a CD signing too!!!

Defyingravity07, I love the picture in the first post.

This CD is on the top of my list... and it doesn't even exist yet.

Anyone know how long it takes to put out a cast recording usually?

I'm sure after GYPSY is recorded, the folks at Time Life will be working their a**es off to get this recording released as soon as possible. Personally, I think it will sell extremely well.

They need to have it out by the Tonys so they can capitalize on Patti's Tony buzz and (probably) win.

How long does it take normal labels or how long does it take TimeLife? This will be a test of their skills as a record label; as Ring of Fire and Annie took forever to get released (I know, rights issues, blah blah blah). Depends how much money the producers want to sink in to get it out. They'd be wise to have it out before Tony time.

The release date I remember reading was June 3rd, with an in-store event on June 4th.

"ANNIE " is released on June 3rd, not "GYPSY". "GYPSY" is being recorded on May 5th and 6th.

They are INDEED recording May 5th & 6th, as per Laura Benanti.
