Being Recorded 4/6, Hits The Singing Stage 5/18 and Stores 6/2
Funny link title.
I'm quite excited about it, I imagine Karen Olivo's performance will transfer beautifully on the recording given her spectacular vocals and Josefina's singing is quite beautiful so I'm glad she'll get to record the songs as well. As for Matt Cavenaugh...well, I'll skip Tony's tracks.
Do not want.
"Do not want."
Thats great... and you felt the need to share this because...
I am excited :) Can't wait!

Oh shut up. He's allowed to say he doesn't want it. You're just pissed this one instance because you're a WSS fangirl.
Me? I'll probably pick up all of Karen's numbers. MAYBE the Quintet.
One of the stronger aspects to this production are the vocals so I am thrilled. I can't wait to hear Karen's amazing voice on the recording.
Anyone know what the deal with "Hits The Singing Stage 5/18"?
I was thinkin it meant that the theater would be selling the CD in the lobby? If not, I have no friggin' clue!

It's a joke. There's a website called "The Singing Stage" that often posts illegal bootlegs of cast recordings way in advance.
not that i am interested in buying it, but "hits the singing stage" probablly means it will go on sale online on itunes and amazon etc. on that date.

No. It's a joke. Read the post above you.
are you trying to tell us that it's a joke?
I am very happy about this cast recording. The show is wonderful and deserves to be preserved on disc.
Looking forward to hearing "Hoy Me Siento Tan Hermosa" over and over again!

Yay. West Side Story + ROad Show coming.
Why can't we have one WSS thread that doesn't turn into negativity?
I cannot wait for this and the ROAD SHOW cast album!

The singing is really good in this cast album.
"You're just pissed this one instance because you're a WSS fangirl. "
If there is one show to be a fangirl for that's actually not overrated then it's not a problem. So you shut up.
Plus, I wouldn't be a fangirl thank you very much
I think Pianolin is a guy...just to clarify...

Oh. I don't know why I thought that. I usually gender-identify people by their avatars. Sorry. =)
I'm waiting for the anouncement that they will film the show for PBS!

Its all good, but if I WERE a girl, I would want to be the one in my avitar lol

Oh yeah. Me too.
You all just pray we don't get the announcement that Arthur Laurents suddenly joins the choir invisible or this will turn into a Larson-style "let's do it Arthur's way!" mess for a generation and a half.

Hard not to be negative. I saw this show last Sunday. Really underwhelmed, for all the reasons mentioned in an earlier reviewers thread. Guys not macho enough to remotely resemble gangs, choreography fussy and cute instead of powerful, use of Spanish distracting and breaks any audience involvement with characters. Maria and Anita have lovely voices and they expose the lack of ability of the others as soon as they open their mouths. This is a travesty and does not respect the gestalt of the story. Rather than transcending boundaries of time and nationality it trivializes the human condition and connections. It appears a cynical production selling seats because of the name recognition and archetypal reputation of WSS and delivering a cheap imitation.
