Does Andy Karl have anything booked after Pretty Woman? He is WAAAY overdue for a Tony and I'd like to see it happen next season. It's a shame that things didn't work in his favor with Groundhog Day and On the Twentieth Century.
What's he doing next? Maybe a little lunch, a nap...
I think the real question is if he's going to stick around with the show? I'm sure Samantha will be on her way out soon, and it's been awhile since he was in a show with some legs, so that couple with a contract renewal bump might give him some incentive to stick around.

Hopefully something MUCH better than Pretty Woman. I can't imagine another vehicle for him quite like GHD. The performance of a lifetime. he and that show were so deserving. I bet he wants more TV work these days.

Totally agree. I absolutely fell for him in GHD.

I'm curious, what's your reasoning for thinking Samantha will be leaving soon? (I wouldn't be surprised myself, given that she may want to return to the UK).

Precisely that reason. Though Barks is dating an American, work (and Work Visa) I can imagine would be taking her back to the UK at some point.

If memory serves I remeber reading that he wanted to take a break from doing theatre and branch out in other directions like doing more TV work. However, he was asked if he’d do Pretty Woman on Broadway and said yes. Perhaps when he’s done with that he may go back to finding TV work again?
He was great in Law and Order SVU. Sadly though they killed off his character so Andy could leave to do Groundhog Day in London.
I believe both he and Barks signed the typical one year contract. I know Barks has wanted to do Broadway for a very long time and is enjoying it so who knows how long she’ll stay. But, this show is scheduled to open in Germany at the end of
This year and then London next year. I wouldn’t be shocked if she opened up the West End production.
Doesnt Equity limit the amount of time a non-American can stay with a show?

That's unfortunate, because TV shows like SUV (or whatever it's called) aren't exactly showcases for actors who should be allowed to sing.

Stephen Ashfield has been with Book of Mormon for almost 3 years. Of course there has been a pretty consistent stream of Americans in the London BOM so there could be different "rules" with that production.

Just because an actor can sing doesn’t mean they always have to be in a project where they have to. There have been and will continue to be musical theatre preformers who also do film and tv. Doesn’t mean that they will never sing again.
Also, I know as drama mamma pointed out that there are rules that equity has in place regarding how long a non American actor can stay with a show. But, I know Barks did both the Hollywood Bowl production of Chicago and the Boston run of Amile. Could that potentially give her a different status with equity for her duration with Pretty Woman? Yes, it’s her Broadway debut but it’s not her first time working with actors equity either. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I can help

Completely agree...this was my view at stage door at the first preview :)

Oh boy, I would do anything to see him on Broadway right now. Too bad my budget is a little tight and I can't afford to go to New York... Anyway, I loved his voice on the Pretty Woman cast album. So beautiful, romantic and captivating.

What do you imagine AK makes a week in Pretty Woman?

Hope they're paying him well, because his beautiful smile and talent are worth every penny.

Between 4 and 8 thousand per week, I'd guess.

I didn't say that he must always be in projects where he can sing, nor did I say that there are no musical theatre performers who also do film and TV, or that Mr. Karl taking such a part means he will never sing again. He's a great musical theatre performer, and I merely stated that I think it would be unfortunate to waste his talent on TV crime dramas.
Any updates now that he's leaving Pretty Woman?

Well, Magic Mike just cancelled, so that's out.
Has Andy Karl done anything besides musicals? I'd like to see him in a play. He has this kind of old-fashioned sensibility, maybe he'd be good in a Noel Coward play or something.
