All I know is that The Producers has won the most Tony honors ever. But which single performer has the most Tonys for female and male? I really dont know the answer to the question. If someone would be so kind to answer, it would be much appreciated!

Tommy Tune has 12 Tonys, although on two are for performances (for Seesaw and My One and Only).

If we extend the field to directors, producers, songwriters, libberests, etc. it can be said that Hal Price has one 20 Tonys (and still counting) and Stephen Sondheim has won 9 (and still counting). Now, let's get a new musical collaboration between these two on Broadway for one last, great Broadway musical (I'm sorry, but 89% of the stuff these days that pass as hits are really just mediocore.)

stephen sondheim does NOT have nine tony awards, that's incorrect. he has seven.

1971 - company (he won two, cause music and lyrics were split into two categories)
1972 - follies
1973 - a little night music
1979 - sweeney todd
1988 - into the woods
1994 - passion

he didnt win in 1964 for forum, in fact he wasnt nominated. he didnt win in 1976 for pacific overtures because chorus line won that year. he didnt win for merrily in 81 because kander and ebb won for woman of the year. he didn't win in 84 for sunday in the park with george because jerry herman won for la cage. he didnt share a best score trophy for writing the lyrics to west side, gypsy, or do i hear a waltz either.

sondheim has seven tonys.

It is Julie Harris. I will always remember her as the mother of the ultimate Hussy of the 80's in Knots Landing.

Oh she suffered so on that show. I jsust remebered wanting to live in that house when Alec Baldwin joined the show. At that time he was scrumptious.
