So, a German site (soundofmusic) had been selling the three track demo of Dracula.
It just posted a notice that said they are no longer selling the CD because the concept CD has a planned release of Sept. 2005.
While this is NOT an official announcement, by the looks of things, the legal details will be sorted out for a September release.
Again, this is NOT official.
(Now, no rude comments re: Wildhorn or Dracula. This is for the fans. Also, this is NOT the OBC...as already announced.)
Stay tuned to Frank's site for pictures and audio of this CD.
Looking forward to finally getting the Dracula studio cast recording
I can't wait!

I can't wait for the cd. I saw this show and LOVED it. One of Frank's best work.

So is everyone going to be playing one role on the recording, or are they just randomly giving songs to whoever?

o, but if the show's in Germany, wouldn't it be in German? im confused...
the german site soundofmusic is extremely expensive.....even if the concept cd is in english expect to pay $28 Euros or more, add shipping and it's usually another 12-14 Euros......42 Euros is a bit expensive.........
wait til you can get it here.
if it is ONLY sold from soundofmusic.de, chances are it will be IN German

i am glad one show is get a cd out now just have to wait for good vibrations cd.
there seems to be some confusion. as of now there are no plans to record a German cast recording of Dracula. soundofmusic was selling the english three track Broadway demos for the show and has now been told to stop selling them as the studio cast recording of dracula, sung in english, is aiming for a September 2005 release to coincide with Frank's joe's pub appearance. the CD will be made available in stores and on Amazon.com and all those places. soundofmusic was simply the only distributor selling the demo CD... the studio CD being released is the one that created all the ruckus with equity and fans etc. for being recorded without the OBC. remember that? yeah...

CatsNYRevival - Amen. You're exactly right.
i don't get it. why record this trite rehash of a score w/ laffable lyrics?
where's the LA CAGE CD?????
THE "La Cage" CD is currently available at all major music distributors and on Amazon.com. It features amazing performances from George Hearn and Gene Barry and is the only "La Cage" CD anyone will ever need.
i do already own the LA CAGE cd, but would also like to have a memento of the brilliant cast I saw in the revival. it's a shame that a Tony winning show isn't getting it's own cd

Most of the cast has been kept under wraps, but Lauren Kennedy will be playing Mina and James Barbour will be Dracula (originally played by Melissa Errico and Tom Hewitt, respectively).
cats, thanks for the clarification

I didn't see the show so I don't know the characters. Does this mean Kelli O'Hara won't be on the CD?
No one from B'way will be on it due to equity.
Thus all the afformentioned ruckus.
There is also a plan to release the songs as a, commonly called, Karaoke CD.
Sorry for the confusion.
The CD is in ENGLISH and will be available like all other CDs.
The only song recorded was NOSFERATU in German.

Since the CD is coming out so long after the Broadway show, it probably would have been a lot smarter -- politically speaking -- to have just waited the required amount of time after the Broadway version shuttered and have used the original cast, don't you think?
It seems that all Wildhorn did was create bad blood between him and many in the Broadway community. Surely, he did not need to give anyone an incentive to dislike him more, since he isn't very popular among those who find his music common and untheatrical. For the record, I am huge Wildhorn fan and I think he gets a really bad rap, though the Dracula recording wasn't handled well.
