When can we get a Dreamgirls Revival on Broadway?

I was thinking about this recently and was curious why we haven't gotten one yet. If we do, we need Amber Reily to play Effie White again!

The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

Amber is not gonna happen. She missed too many shows in London.

I would love a Dreamgirls revival but I really hope it’s not with Amber Reilly. I don’t think she has the acting chops.

I’m still shocked Nicholaw’s recent West End production didn’t cross the pond years ago, after the reviews it got.

It was a horrible version. I usually never use that word for art but it was bad. Same producer behind Funny Girl. Not speaking of the onstage talent, both shows were amazing, but the elements that made up the show....not good.

When there’s an Effie worthy of a production.

We learned this lesson the hard way with FUNNY GIRL.

I truly think the only person that could pull it off (unless they find some incredible unknown, which would be amazing) is Jailen Josey.

As talented as Alex Newell is and despite their gender fluidity, the role of Effie White is a woman. Alex Newell would be very much miscast in this role.

There was buzz going on for a while that it would make its way to New York, but that didn't happen yet due to lack of available venues.
