Who's Seeing Lindsay & Derek in WICKED?

I am very excited to hear your thoughts if you see the show soon (or even tonight)! I didn't even know Derek was joining Lindsay until a few days ago. After Dogfight, I am very interested in hearing how they do; especially Lindsay as the new Elphaba. :)

I'm going to try the lottery on Tuesday, I'll report back if I magically win.

I did the lottery back in early March and it actually wasn't bad, and both my friend and I did win. I'm not sure how it's been lately with schools ending and it getting warmer out.

Phillytheatreguy, I am not sure how long their contracts are, although someone did ask Lindsay if she and Derek would still be there at the 10th anniversary and she said they definitely would be.

I'd kill to see the video, but the Tumblr audio of "As Long as You're Mine" was RIDICULOUS. The harmonies gave me goosebumps, sounds like it was a fantastic 1st show for them!

She has beautiful diction. And vibrato.

I hate to say it but I don't really like it! I don't like the phrasing in defying gravity, and I liked most of the wizard and I, but I didn't like the riff at the end! Quite possibly the best As long as you're mine I have heard though!

Ok, the NGD was pretty fantastic! She just didn't quite get the 'fiiiiiiyyyeeeerooooooo' right IMO, but that will come with time!

Mendez has stood out to me so many times over the years that I made a point to attend her first performance. She didn't disappoint. Rarely have I heard Elphaba's music sung so well. By the end of "The Wizard and I," I was sure I was in for an exhilarating evening. Her "No Good Deed" was thrilling, and she and Derek Klena did a good job with "As Long As You're Mine," though she pretty much outshone him.

Klena needs time to settle in. Fiyero isn't Hamlet, of course, but he could be a little more animated. He has a beautiful, technically perfect voice, but I found him kind of dull overall. He impressed me in DOGFIGHT, though, so I have confidence that he'll get there. (Perhaps his deficiencies were magnified because he was performing opposite someone who was already pretty much all the way there).

Katie Clarke was great. I've heard negative comments about her performance in the past, and I didn't care for her in PIAZZA, but she really won me over here.

I've actually never seen Wicked because I don't see shows I can't get a discount for nor do I like to go into the city without already having tickets. Anyone want to help me out at lotto some time? lol

She sounds pretty good. Almost similar to Mandy Gonzalez, but not quite as strong.
It's always nice when the producers don't recycle another boring Elphaba.
