Does anybody know when he'd be leaving? Also its probably a long shot but what about Skylar Astin? He did Pitch Perfect and was OBC spring awakening.

If the show runs for a few more years I'd absolutely love to see Joshua Colley tackle this role. Idk if you guys have seen him singing 'How Far I'll Go' from Moana, but this kid is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I'd love to see Anthony Rosenthal as Evan at some point.

Seems like the wrong direction age-wise to play a high school student...

I highly doubt the production will run long enough for Rosenthal to become age-appropriate for the role.

My top 2 choices for a replacement are Chris McCarrell and Jordan Fisher!

My guess is that he's gone in beginning of November.
What about his current understudy Colton Ryan ? My guess is that at some point, he's going to start going on somewhat regularly to help the show make a transition to a non-Ben Platt version. The show is bordering on dangerously dependent on one actor.
Does anyone think that Colton Ryan is too conventionally attractive for the role? He looks and acts like a very confident high school jock. I mean, the kid is pretty fit/muscular and has a winning smile. He looks like he's about to be swept up by some Disney Channel franchise any second now. His voice is great and I would love to see him onstage, but I have a hard time picturing him as a very removed and socially paralyzed individual. Maybe I'm alone in this and can't see the bigger picture :)
Doubt we would see Skylar "I'm better than you" Astin replacing on Broadway.
Andrew KB can replace the girlfriend.

Just seems like he should gravitate to a show that requires nudity instead....

Funny you should say that. Looks like he just saw the show last night, not a bad idea. https://instagram.com/p/BSAROXAD8Wg/

This could be delightful.
Sean? No. Austin - yes. This show will push whoever's doing it to their extremes. The acting and singing requirements are insane.

Agreed! He was wonderful in "When We Rise" and I'm really looking forward to Speech & Debate and seeing what else he does next.
I enjoyed Austin P. McKenzie in Spring Awakening, but I don't remember his voice being particularly strong. This is a role that requires solid technique and vocal stamina--McKenzie strikes me more as an actor who sings.
Alex Wyse feels like pretty ideal casting for this.

Haha, I came to the board just to say this. Another guy who I'd like to see take a shot at it is Max Chernin. He's not popular enough, but should be.
Can Adam Langdon who's playing Christopher on tour, sing?

I'm pretty sure that he's actually a baritone. The part is probably too high.

That's probably when his contract expires, but given how much money that show is raking in, and given how much of it is likely to be dependent on Platt being in the show, I'm going to bet that they are going to throw a significant chunk of change at him to keep in an extra three to six months. I wonder if there's any chance of a move to a bigger theater to maximize the box office if he does extend.
