LOL rent made every teenager want to get HIV hahahahahahaah
Jungle, that's how we roll, yo.
Seriously, I cannot stand Wicked. It was boring, contrived, and would try to smack you on the head with its "message" in between trying to be silly and sappy. I consider it one of the reasons why Broadway is losing interest in sopranos, among other shows. I mean, what the hell is going on with lowering Julie Jordan's keys? Why?
As far as the fans go, it bothers me when anyone who is a high belting singer automatically gets a "She should be Elphaba!". NO, two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster should NOT be Elphaba.

You're a disgusting example of a human being.

But glinda is a soprano right? They lowered the keys for one of the glinda's???
Sutton foster shouldn't play elphaba that would be all wrong. It would be going against type.Same with Sierra Boggess. She shouldn't be playing evita etc

Oh whatever jordan it's totally true.Im sure it wasn't on purpose or anything.
I would classify myself as a rent-head.Rent and wicked were the first shows i ever fell in love with.
The writers/team replaced a story about love and sacrifice with a watered down love triangle. The novel's main plot - the Wizard and Madam Morrible's fight against animal rights - could've translated well into gay rights, women's rights, but I guess they didn't want to stray too far from the family friendly zone. So, you get one or two songs about the Animals and that's it. I haven't seen it in a while so I'm probably forgetting something, but Dr Dillamond's death doesn't seem to be that big of a deal in the musical. Not enough for Elphaba to start her crusade anyway.

It's a huge deal in the show!Elphaba was going to side with the wizard but than it's shown that Dr.dillamind(spelling) can't talk anymore and is a prisoner of the wizard.Just like the flying monkeys. That scene is a huge turning point for elphaba.I think you need to see the show again..
Dillamond's song makes you wish he was out of the picture sooner.
"Dillamond's song makes you wish he was out of the picture sooner."
HA!
I don't remember him being a prisoner so much as him being killed.
In the book, he's killed by Morrible's clockwork servant. In the musical, he's turned into a regular animal.
The animal rights stuff is a lot deeper in the novel. In the musical, it's essentially abandoned in the second act and very streamlined in the first.
I just remember the ANIMALS SHOULD BE SEEN AND NOT HEARD message on the board.
I don't hate it, but I certainly like other shows better. I would see it again though. Just wish the tickets weren't so expensive.

How can you even say that? the whole motivation for elphaba is that she wants to free the animals and make sure they stay talking. That is why she had to defy gravity. That is why she didn't take the wizard's offer.that's the whole reason she is an outcast in act 2. have you seen wicked???
Have you read the novel?
The plot elements are simplified so much in the musical. It's like Schwartz and Holzman just read the Sparknotes as their research- and still watered it down.
I've seen it three times, but it's been at least three years since I've seen it. I also saw it after my birthday brunch, where we partook in a few blood marys. Don't get all up in my grill because I can't remember a few details.
And isn't there a space bar on that keyboard of yours? It's that long, thing, bar in the middle bottom of your keyboard.
I don't hate it, I love it!! Not the brightest bulb on Broadway, but it certainly is bright. Defying Gravity and For Good, I believe to be some of the most beautiful gems in the contemporary MT catalogue. I believe where most of the hate comes from is the overwhelming commercial appeal and the fact that it attracts a vey loud and proud fan base.

I Just think it's a kinda dumb you are basing your argument off a show you barely remember.I have no problem with your opinion but you aren't supporting your argument properly.

...I think the fact he can't remember what you're claiming is so central to the show is very telling.

No because he said he was drinking alcohol before the show.Of course he isn't going to remember some plot points if he is getting wasted
I'm confused. I thought she was able I defy gravity because she had Mexican food for lunch and was able to propel her fat ass into space.
