Its doing ok. Not great. 65 percent gross potential. But ok. Should be doing great. Awesome show. I had such a good time.

I think it's definitely covering its costs, but it can't be pulling in too much of a profit- which is, of course, the whole point.
To put it in perspective:
Let's assume its nut is $800,000 weekly (I would wager to say it's actually more than that). It made $950,204 last week, leaving $150,204 of profit.
Now, a show of this size had to cost at least $10 million (probably more).
It has a long way to go to just recoup that investment. Unless it starts doing better business, it will not last through the end of the year. The Palace is far too big of a venue to house that won't be really turning a profit for a year- particularly if the rumors about Evita wanting the house are true.

Via several insiders and people involved with the show, the nut is in the $600,000 range.
Your "insiders" are wrong. Minimum 800K.
Thank you. I have no idea where people would assume $800K.

And your source is?
A real one. as opposed to yours.

Okay, so Priscilla is not a hit and is doing "eh, okay."
It's probably also not going to close next week.
What is it about this show that has everyone repeating this same conversation every Monday?
(Isn't this kind of exactly how things went in London, or am I mistaken in thinking it had a slowish start there too and has done well, but not sell out spectacular?)

Sure. So your telling me that Spider-Man's nut is only $200K more than Priscilla's with all their insurance premiums, the money to power that set, the flying, and hazard pay?
Spider-Man is probably low-balling theirs, to be fair.
I pulled the 800k number out of thin air, just based on an uneducated estimate based on the size of the production and the theatre.
I have no ill-feelings toward the show. But one has to admit that merely doing "okay" in the Palace is not ideal.
Mee who,
no one is saying anything really bad. except for Theaterfan4 who seems to be blindly obsessed and seems to be on this board only for this discussion.
And the comparison to Spiderman is about the stupidest thing to come out of her yet.
And I dont have any ill feeling towards the show either. I think it is pretty fabulous. Just talking buisness here.

Oh, I wasn't saying anyone was saying anything bad. But we ARE kind of just repeating the same stuff over and over again every Monday.

Yes, because I'm the one to drag this thread up every week for it's weekly "Poor little Priscilla" treatment. And I do talk about other stuff here.
And the comparison to Spiderman is about the stupidest thing to come out of her yet.
Why is that?
If you would take the time to read the thread instead of going on one of your hissy fits you would have seen that I just saw this show on Saturday night. I got great orchestra seats close to showtime at tkts. .Something I knew I would have a good chance of doing and gettingfrom reading this thread. Truth always scores.
That there's seats available? No sh*t, it was only filled 80%. That doesn't discredit the money it brought in. I have read this thread since the beginning.
And no one is discrediting whatever money it brought in, Which for a show this size and of this cost...IS JUST OK.
Do you think a discount code for Saturday shows and Sunday matinee would help advance sales and therefore gross? Wouldn't it be better to sell seats in advance at a lesser discount then to wait until the day of and sell then half off at TKTS?
Yes, that I can agree with. Extend the discount and get rid of the Monday night show and put it on Wednesday.
I agree with this. They should also take at least the last few rows of the balcony and sell them real cheap. I know others disagree. But I have always felt the balcony of the palace to be way to high. I always thought of the rear of the balcony there as equivalent to obstructive view seats.
That too. I nearly had a stroke climbing those stairs to the sky.

I think unapologetic gay shows simply don't often get the business more coded or integrated shows do, unfortunately. I enjoyed the show quite a bit but in terms of sex appeal, only Bob's wife did anything for me.

Jackson Heights, I don't know who your "source" is but I highly doubt it's someone involved directly with the show and/or production team. A good number of people directly involved in both have all named the $600,000 range. Unless the cost of running it went up $200K/week since I last heard that # maybe 2-3 weeks ago, I am gonna go ahead and trust a bunch of people that I know are 100% directly involved. Also, $800K a week is WAY too high of a nut for this show. I'm not calling you a liar but I would double check with your source because obviously he/she has been given incorrect info.
I saw it the other night, and I can't imagine it's running costs are too high. They use a treadmill and stuff, and it doesn't seem like the cost of keeping it going. It was great though! How "Catch Me" got more noms than this, I'll never know.
