does anyone know why the show is dark between September 25th and October 2nd? I love this show, and I hope it doesn't mean anything bad.

This was addressed on the other thread about War Paint it may be a way to gracefully close the show.

Perhaps either Patti or Christine have other commitments? Who knows?

It was reported that they're going on vacation for a week, but someone speculated they may never return from said hiatus. Given that there has been no announcement of a closing yet, I am beginning to think they do plan to return and make a go of it.

The week-long hiatus has been on the show's schedule from the first. It's so Ms.LuPone and Ms. Ebersole can take vacation. That's all.

They're gonna pump money to keep it going until the end of the year, and that'll be it.

If they were smart, they'd announce a Jan. closing now to drum up some final business of everyone who wants to see these two again or just in general. But they probably won't.

I remembered that the show apparently broke financial records at the goodman. Could they still have enough money from that run to be keeping the show afloat? I doubt it, but it's just a thought

I think it's possible for them to get some good money during the Winter months if they play the cards right. They could possibly keep it going for a while.

Not to be pessimistic (which never happens on here :) ) but I don't see this show catching any fire this fall. With new shows coming and the ones that opened and are on fire (Charlie; Anastasia; obviously Dear Evan) I can't imagine War Paint - or Miss Saigon for that matter - having major bo turn arounds in the next few weeks

I think they could stunt cast it in a very smart way - and by stunt casting I mean like Broadway people - because the parts are great. But yeah, I don't think it's going to catch fire suddenly. But it can't be too costly to run, and for whatever reason, it is still running. So good for them. It will do well regionally.

Per their website, they are selling through January 14, 2018
Those ladies probably need a much deserved vacation going into the lucrative holiday season. Additionally, I agree it would be smart to announce closing now to drum up those last minute sales for those who won't be able to get into the last of Bette's Dolly.

If this show hasn't caught fire by now, it never will. If people can't get into seeing Ms. Midler's last performance, there are better shows than War Paint to see.

I wonder if the show is performing at or just slightly below its nut - to the point where holding out and having a few very strong weeks can make up for any marginal loss during this time. I don't quite understand who would be putting up/pouring money into this week after week if it was really performing terribly?

Just looked for tickets on the 24th and a banner came up saying "Don't miss it. Only 6 days to go". I have not seen that when ordering advanced tix.

Ticketmaster tries to create that sense of "urgency" in ticket sales, especially when you are ordering close to the event date. I get emails from them frequently within a week of an event saying "This is coming up soon! Jump on tickets!"

Well what's especially weird is that, in the six days following September 24th, there are no performances.

It's implying that you looked up a performance date which is (in this case) 6 days away. It makes sense for concert and sports events which are typically one night only affairs, not so much for 8-shows-a-week every week events.
